Why do I constantly see "ANTI"s on a page marked "Hunting"? Do you anti's think you'll change anyone ? And if owning guns is such a bad thing then why don't you put a sign in the yard that says you don't believe in guns ? Seriously, you post the sign and I promise not to come to your house when I see someone breaking in.

Because that's how strongly they believe what they believe, now matter how ignorant, prejudiced or misinformed they are, and no matter whether or not their "facts" are true. They and their counterparts in government would gladly take away all of our firearms and hunting rights if they had half a chance. Reason enough to get yourself out and VOTE!

In response to the chap who made refererence to England's draconian gun laws (I'm sure he would love for the U.S. to have the same "enlightened" laws): "In reality, the English approach has not re-duced violent crime. Instead it has left law-abiding citizens at the mercy of criminals who are confident that their victims have neither the means nor the legal right to resist them. Imitating this model would be a public safety disaster for the United States" http://www.reason.com/news/show/28582.html

They are trying to justify their irrational thought patterns. If they can get a rise out of you, it's a victory in their heads, if only to create disharmony of some sort. I often do the same thing when arguing with my girlfriend. Inciting her into a rage makes me feel like I'm winning the argument, whether I have a valid point or not. Very childish, although, many of them are probably nothing more than children.
I always wonder if they actually read the 'answers' given to their questions, or do they post a question and run?

Maybe it's because people have opinions and want to share them just like you're doing and we're all doing? As long as things like hunting and guns exist, of course there will be people that are against it (it would be outrageous to think that on any given subject matter everyone agrees and even more outrageous to expect people to keep their opinions to themselves). It's not even about hunting and guns it's about people expressing their thoughts and opinions and hoping to educate others on a particular subject matter. People can believe what they want there's no harm in expression of opinions. In fact here's mine when it comes to sport hunting: I can't imagine in any way justifying the recreational killing of wild animals. If you're seeing a lot of "ANTIS" then just keep in mind that everything else is a subtle "PRO" that we take for granted, if you can understand that.

I agree with you. The hunting section is just for that, questions and answers about hunting and related to hunting. This is a good hunting question, since it addresses pro and anti hunting concerns. Any strictly anti-hunting questions or answers are violating the community guidelines, and should be reported as fast as possible.

I've done the same thing with a few people I know who don't like guns. Someone I shared a house with last year didn't really like me having a shotgun under my bed, so I told him if someone breaks in I'll wait until he gets to me to do anything about it. A few weeks later one of our neighbors was clubbed to death, and he didn't say another word on the subject. I do believe that people should be able to sign an official waiver to live a gun-free life, and police and law enforcement, as well as vigilant neighbors, should not be allowed to assist them when their home gets broken into.

As far as the train of thought that having a gun will let it be used against you, that's a bunch of nonsense. A gun lets you defend yourself at a longer distance than something like a bat would, which has a pretty high probability of being used against you. Going to fight off an intruder unarmed is even worse, leaving you defenseless against an intruder who likely has something heavy that he (or she - can't be sexist here) used to break into your house initially. In both England and Australia, guns have been pretty much banned. Neither of them had a high rate of gun crime before, but that rate has gone up, as well as a massive increase in violent crime. When the guns are against the law, it's only going to disarm the people who are following that law to begin with, not criminals, who now have a huge populous of unarmed people to rob, rape, and murder at their own free will. Even in the U.S., this trend is presant. In Washington D.C., where guns are illegal, there's one of the highest crime rates in the nation. Same with New York City. Then towns that have gun laws that require everyone legally able to have a gun to keep one in their home have seen a dramatic decrease in gun related crime, and violent crime has virtually come to an end.

So, for you people saying we shouldn't be able to defend ourselves, you should get your facts straight before you open your mouth. I'm sure you're all going to give me a thumbs down, now, since I contradicted what's going on in your happy little thought bubble, but it's true. Gun bans are responsible for dramatic increases in gun violence, as well as all other forms of violence, including that from the government.

I agree, those jerks need their own forum so they can stay out of ours.

And BDOGG, you think England's gun laws are so much better than here in the US, just remember it was armed
Americans who chased your Limy butts out of this country. Then it was armed Americans who came to your aid and saved your bacon in WW I and again in WW II. So, I'd say that Americans having guns is a pretty good thing.

Wouldn't it make more sense to ask this in a non-hunting section? Try the pottery or Birkenstock category.

I would guess it's because they think they know best and wish to share their "knowledge". To go to a topic only for the purpose of putting it down can be childish. To call them on it is much different. Perhaps there needs to be a new category all their own...hmm...what would you call that?

BDOGG - How about some stats or some sources with that answer.

Learn the facts = Foot out of mouth.

As for our question...It does not pay to stir the hornet nest up. most of the time you are just preaching to the choir.

They are here because they don't find it fulfilling enough to just have an opinion on a subject, they also have to force it down peoples throats.Kind of the same as you are doing now, except your doing it somewhere that most people will agree with you. This will inevitably be shown by the fact that I will have a couple thumbs down although I am saying I hate them coming here.
