why do Christians?

It's a holiday for most people, so they go see their families. Christmas stopped being about tradition when the Christians stole it from the pagans a long time ago and forced said pagans into Christianity.

Christmas is more a celebration of family togetherness and having fun. You don't need to believe in Jesus to celebrate it. How many Christmas shows have to do with Jesus? Santa and presents rule Christmas we are all taught that from childhood.

The same reason a lot of Muslims and Hindus and other non-Christians do...

Because it's a holiday! And who doesn't like a little extra time to spend with loved ones?

And remember... it was a pagan holiday first. Christians are only borrowing it for the time being...

Because it is not a religious holiday anymore. And besides even if it was, why can't an atheist celebrate a religious holiday? i will still step into a church (i won't try to fool anyone about who I am though) but that doesn't make me religious, or a believer.

WHy do Christians celebrate Christmas? Jesus wasn't born in December and it's obviously adapted from multiple pagan solstice celebrations.

It seems to me that Christians and atheists celebrate Christmas for the same reason.

i celebrate sol invictus - but so as not to freak out the elderly members of my family i still say merry christmas!! :D it's easier that way i'd feel well guilty if they started having heart attacks around the christmas tree :D

I don't call it that, it's Xmas, Season's Greetings and mostly Winter holidays for me, have a great time whatever you call it.

Anyway why did Christians hijack and celebrate a Pagan festival...are they too unoriginal to find their own festivals?

christimas has more to do with celebrating nature ... the significance of the tree, than any religious meaning... religions unable to prevent the celebration from continuing seek to religify it by introducing their symbols... but you can't keep a good tree down...

I don't celebrate it, but for what God and history has recorded December 25 to mean I am appalled at the hypocrisy of Christians to have it. If how ever the atheist celebrate it I guess he likes the freaky party. Duh!
