I have a major skin problem and I always put on a moisterizer and then Maybelline's Dream matte mouse over it in an attempt to hide blemishes. I put a lot on to try to cover it up. Is this really bad? I don't know what to do. I would die if people saw my skin without makeup!! HELP!!!

Make up is horrible for your skin, even the types that say they won't clog pores. I fought breakouts my forever until I switched the following: Wash with lukewarm water 2 times daily with dove soap. I use cetaphil to moisturize. Then I switched to Bare Minerals. It will not break you out. Your skin will continue to get better and better looking as your pores keep cleaning out. Every other night I pour olive oil in my hand, add sugar and scrub my face, then rinse. I leave the olive oil on as a deep moisturizer. Now I get compliments on how smooth and glowy my skin is, and I'm 51! There are other mineral based powders marketed now, and I don't know much about them. Bare Minerals is about $70.00 for the starting kit, but it lasts forever. I know of a website at: www.elf.com That carries as new line very cheap, and you can buy one at Costco also (which is always returnable if you aren't happy, and so is Bare Minerals). I stick to Bare Minerals because theirs covers so well and stays on looking fresh always until you wash it off. I recommend to anyone having breakouts to switch over to this type cause you won't have any more problems again!

Dry and/or greasy skin due to poor oil composition of the skin. Thick greasy oils clog pores, lack of oil leads to dryness and irritation. You need thin oils to moisturize while dissolving and clearing gunk in your poors. Try fish oil or seafood. 2 tsp fish oil a day or 4 servings of seafood a week. Stick it out for at least 2 months; it will take a long time to replace all your oil. Any effect after 1-2 days is temporary or random; so even if it makes you break out a little at first, you haven't given it a full try yet.

In the short term you can wash and moisturize well, but that will only go so far. Plus excessive washing can be drying and excessive moisturizing can be clogging. Use a small amount of a light moisturizer, made with oil not jelly or grease. Often that means soybean oil or mineral oil. Mineral oil means mined from the ground. So soybean oil is usually better, though mineral oil won't cause too much harm. Clean with soap and water, not a harsh acne cleanser. Even then they only work so well. So you really need the seafood.

Antibiotics aren't really good for bacteria long term, they'll come back in force after. Short term they may help. After you get off them find some kefir with acidophilus listed first or 2nd to replace the friendly bacteria they destroyed. Studies show less illness when you have these bacteria, even outside the stomach in places such as the lungs and elsewhere. You want friendly bacteria to fill the void when the antibiotics stop, not harmful ones.

In the short term you might also try 100,000+ iu retinol vitamin A (a megadose, and too much for normal use) or one of the acne drugs that is similar to retinol vitamin A. It's some minor harm to your organs, but it helps against bacteria on your skin. At least it doesn't have the other long term drawbacks to your skin that antibiotics and many scrubs do.

If you would like to learn how to treat your acne permanently and regain your health and wellbeing, without drugs, without typical acne treatments, and without any side effects, then this will be the most important letter you will ever read.

If you don't wash your face often enough, then the foundation can cause more acne. Also, the brand of makeup you use could have oils or fragrances that can block your pores and cause blemishes. Try a different brand and if OTC acne skin care treatments don't work for you, talk to a dermatologist.

Just make sure both your moisturizer and your foundation don't contain oil. Then your foundation won't cause any more acne. However, I find that a good concealer under some loose powder works much better than foundation to hide acne.

Make sure that the foundation and face make up that you wear does not contain oil.

There are actually foundations and concealers that help fight blemishes. I know Neutrogena has a concealer stick that helps treat blemishes.

Also, make sure that you wash your face everynight before you go to bed in the morning. I know that if I go a night without washing my face I wake up with pimples everywhere.

it isn't bad if you wear foundation to cover them up, you just need to make sure that you wash off the make-up extremely well because otherwise you're skin isn't able to breathe well because the make-up may be causing your pores to become clogged.
