PLANT CITY, Florida (AP) -- A 9-year-old boy died after being run over by a church float in a Christmas parade.

Jordan Hayes was walking alongside the float, handing out beads and candy, when his foot was caught by a wheel and he fell under the float Friday night, said Police Chief Bill McDaniel.

Parade watchers shouted at the driver to back up, but the pickup truck pulling the Greater Heights Family Worship Center float ran over Jordan a second time. The driver is Jordan's cousin, authorities said.

Jordan, of Inverness, Florida, had been in Plant City visiting a brother.

Go ahead, tell me how God let this happen. I'm all ears.
"This is a tragedy that defies words," McDaniel said. "This was supposed to be a time of celebration and joy, but it has turned into a terrible tragedy."

What a tragedy. This sort of thing can only make sense if you come to the realization that there is no god.

Thou shalt not kill actually means murder. ie don't go up to your neighbor or to another country and murder someone. It doesn't mean no capital punishment, it doesn't end all wars, it means YOU the individual are not to put a person to death. Yeah, I love living here in Kuwait and all my hippie fellow Americans singing the song of "let's leave Iraq, b/c there were no weapons of mass destruction and Iraq will be better without us." I didn't support the invasion from day one, but I do believe in cleaning up my own mess, and helping others in need. And if we would simply pull out of Iraq right now, the insurgents will take over, kill thousands of innocent people and life would be just as horrible for the "other" religious group as it was under Saddam. But you can understand the issue with Iran. That's good... because I'm way more worried about living within missile striking distance from Iran than I am from Iraq... What ever happened to helping those who cannot help themselves and helping others before yourself?

Yes this is a tragedy, but it is not God's fault. Where were the adults in this parade? Why was the child walking that close to the float? And backing up the driver ran over the child again? Who's smart idea was that one?

You do understand that the believers will give you one answer, the non-believers another. Was the boy used as an organ donor? Did his death save lives? Bad things happen. Belief in a deity is a personal choice - either you believe or you don't.

God is not in the business of "micromanaging" everyones life. Humanity consistently blames God for evil and suffering in the world. But it is not God who is to blame. The responsibility rests squarely on us for our decision to reject His guidance and choose a life of sin—and on Satan for his deception of humanity.

The good news is that God has not given up on mankind. Just as He allowed Adam and Eve the freedom to choose, so He lets the nations and the nations' inhabitants go their own way. He allows the world to suffer to teach us we cannot find lasting peace, security and contentment without Him.

We are learning the hard lesson that we cannot rightly govern ourselves apart from God and His laws. The eventual result of our efforts is that, just before Jesus returns to earth, humanity will teeter on the brink of annihilation. "If that time of troubles were not cut short, no living thing could survive" (Matthew 24:22, Revised English Bible).

What a tragedy , I don't know if it's right to push religious views when we should be feeling sorry this happened, but you asked.
Christmas is a pagan holiday ,so if Christians obeyed the bible they would not have been celebrating this event ,& this accident would not have happened.
How can you blame God becase those who claim to follow the bible go against it's teachings ?

You can rest assured that boy is in heaven.

theses are the reasons people die.

God knows they are ready for him so he takes them away from this world.

2 they dwell in their own sin and God knows they will never change, so he allows their own actions to be their downfall.

3, Stupidity.

for example if a person has lung cancer, and is dieing from it, It is their fault that they smoked and damaged their lungs to the point of their own destruction.

We as humans beings have polluted our air thus increasing disease and famine, leading to many deaths

Mankind also dwells in war affected millions of ppl.

And God has said after the flood that He will not interfere with mans Actions no matter how wikid they are. and that he would never flood thee entire world with water any more thus he made the rainbow to remind humanity of his promise.

What a Man shall sow, so shall he reap.

Do not be afraid for that boy is with God. :)

Yes there is a god. But have you heard of accidents? Hey god can't be there in all moments. Some religions say that everybody has their future written and I think that that's true. But hey everybody has a different point of view, and if yours it's different that's ok. That's why there is so many religions. And i'm open to hear new points of view.

God doesn't control everything !
Having said that, if he had people praying for him, in faith, for his life and so on, that event could have been prevented.

Psalm 91:11 "For He will charge his angels to guard you wherever you go" [that particular claimable promise is for the person who lives in the shelter of the Most High, others relate to protection for the kids of parents]"

And if the hundreds of billions of people who ever lived were still alive, and all the laws of nature controlled by God, including your free will, you'd be writing e-mails to God complaining that you want the universe to be chaotic and random.

Some people won't be happy with anything.
