What groups are addressing the problem of road rage

Some states have laws against agressive driving. If a driver is being stopped for two or more offenses at the same time, such as speeding and illegal lane change, and/or tailgating, he can be given an additional fine for aggressive driving. Unfortuneately, the law is only as good as its enforcement, and there never seems to be a cop around when you really need one. There are some real nutcases out there on the interstates, speeding and weaving in and out of traffic at more than 100 mph. The cops may hassle someone for going 5-10 over the speed limit, but the worst offenders rarely seem to get caught.

Some police departments have saturation patrols and unmarked cars looking for those kinds of drivers. Other drivers also call 911 on the road rage drivers.

Unfortunately, the police have to observe the behavior to really do anything about it.

We are doing our best to get you bad drivers off the road so we won't have to get enraged. Once the rest of you learn how to drive, our road rage will go away.

Politicians do for this what they do for any other problem--- pass meaningless laws.

Police can enforce problems only when they see them. Getting tag numbers and complaining can lead to more aggresive enforcement in that area.

Lately, several states have tried putting officers with radios into trucks. Very effective at getting stupid drivers ticketed!
