I and my sister are United States Marine Corps veterans - we made the decision to be willing to sacrifice ourselves for liberty and for others if necessary.
Thank the gods, it wasn't. That decision still holds for us, we would still stand up and fight for liberty and others.

It's impossible to sacrifice your life for your own personal freedom, because after you're dead you don't have any freedom anymore.
As for sacrificing your life for other peoples' freedom...well, I have absolutely no problem with other people doing that, but given that I don't believe in an afterlife, it's not something I would want to do myself.
