we are, we are the only ones in control of our own happiness

either way no matter what you believe you are responsible for your happiness. For those who do believe in God, God gave us free will to live life and make decisions and based on the decisions you make is whether or not you're happy. Same goes for those who do not believe in God you are responsible for your own actions which results in your happiness or unhappiness.

God took responsibility for Jesus' happiness. If we faith and remain obedient to God as Jesus did, God will take care of us too. There is no true happiness to be found outside of serving God and doing His will.

I'm not sure where'd I'd side, because, if there is a god, then I suppose either he/she/it could be responsible for our happiness, or he would give us the chances to be happy, which if that's the case, we would be responsible for our happiness. And if there is no god, then we are responsible for our happiness.

God, of course... some of the prophets were very happy with him because God answered their prayers right on the spot!

Hosea 9:14-16 (NIV) (the prophet is improvising a prayer to the LORD!!!...) Give them, O LORD— what will you give them? Give them wombs that miscarry and breasts that are dry. (And God rushes to answer him on the spot!!!) "Because of all their wickedness in Gilgal, I hated them there. Because of their sinful deeds, I will drive them out of my house. I will no longer love them; all their leaders are rebellious. Ephraim is blighted, their root is withered, they yield no fruit. EVEN IF THEY BEAR CHILDREN, I WILL SLAY THEIR CHERISHED OFFSPRING."

God always answers our prayer even before we open our eyes, if we ask him “according to his will”…!

Jeremiah 16:3-4 (NIV) For this is what the LORD says about the sons and daughters* (*babies) born in this land and about the women who are their mothers and the men who are their fathers: "They will die of deadly diseases. They will not be mourned or buried but will be like refuse lying on the ground. They will perish by sword and famine, and their dead bodies will become food for the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth."

May God’s LOVING sadistic pleasure endure for ever and ever…! and all of God’s people say, “AMEN!!! and AMEN!!!” Any Christian of a sadistic orientation will find a real Paradise in Heaven. The rest will just rejoice in the LORD… whatever they think that is!

God gives us a choice. I we chose to follow Gods word (bible) he will watch after us. If you decide to be of the world, then you have let the devil dictate, and sometimes he can give us good things to keep us away from God. We don't always get what we want when we want them, just b/c we ask God. But you do have a choice. My suggestion to you is to read your bible, and find the answers there.

If you believe God is responsible for our happiness, then you believe that he is responsible for our fate - in which case, why bother with anything? Why bother getting up in the morning?

If we don't have free will - then we're all just an elaborate game on the way to moldering in the grave.

Well, I think that following the path set out for you is the answer. I have to ask now, "What should I do? Should I go up North? To this particular place? Is that a good idea? Is there anything down here?". Something tells me to accept it after Christmas.
