I'm about ready to put up my artificial Christmas Tree, but I'm afraid my incredibly hyper and powerful 10-month-old pitbull will knock it down as he tears through the house. How should I prevent this?

Put it up on a small table and put it in the corner of the room so there is less chance of him running by and knocking it down.

1) Read package that has the tree preservative in it, most say non toxic to pets or kids as they are where both can reach. 2) Call vet let them know of the vomiting and how much. Perhaps the bacteria in the stagnant water is what is causing the Nausea Vomiting... I pulled this off another site for you: "Ask the APCC: Christmas Tree Water Worries Is the water in our Christmas tree stand poisonous to our dog and cat? Not really,, but it could have other negative effects. For example, sometimes people add preservatives to Christmas tree water that may contain fertilizers. While these preservatives are poisonous, they can cause stomach upset. Stagnant tree water can also be a breeding ground for bacteria, which can lead to vomiting, nausea, or diarrhea. It’s a good idea to make sure a skirt or a cloth covers the bottom of your tree to deter your dog and cat from drinking the water. Links below... hope lil pup feels better and you have a great night

When we got our puppy last year, we solved this issue by elevating our tree. I saw a tree decorated on a tv show, where the tree was put inside of a planter box and inside the box there was some concrete blocks. Well, I didn't happen to have any planter boxes lying around, so I used the concrete blocks and just placed the stand on the blocks and covered all of it with a large xmas tree skirt. Good luck and Merry Christmas.

I recommend you put a fence or baby gate around the tree so he can not get to it & try to put it out of his usual path he takes when tearing through the house, invest in a water bottle or clicker to stop him from tearing through the house, teach him NO & reward with treat when he obeys

My father used to screw a ring into the wall or window sill and tie the tree to it. That way the cat wouldn't knock it over when she inevitably tried to climb it.

put the tree in a safe place. if it does get knocked over make sure nothing else valuable gets knocked over. don't leave any chords around so that he could trip over. tell him No when he goes near it.
