Whats the difference in the ".30-06 Spfld." and the ".270 win."

The .270 Winchester is a .30-06 Springfield necked-down to accept a .278-inch bullet. In standard loadings, a 30-06 throws a 150 grain .308" bullet, a .270 throws a 130 grain .278" bullet. It's only loses about 100 ft/lbs, but gains about 150-200 fps in factory loadings.

they each have the same case. neither is noticibly better than the other. the 270 flys slightly faster and flatter but the difference is nil
