Christianity is a modern version of Egyptian religion

Actually, the majority of modern Egyptians are Sunni Muslims. Some are also Christians and Jews. Its actually hard for anyone who practices anything other than the Abrahamic religions to speak openly about their faith.

Kemetic neo-Paganism carries the same beliefs as the ancient Egyptians. They believe in the same Gods and Goddesses, and believe in (basically) the same concept of the afterlife. However, modern society has limited carry over of most of the traditions. Kemeticism is NOT a reconstructionist religion and does not attempt to "recreate" life as an ancient Egyptian. Therefore, no mummification. Also, most Kemetics do NOT live in Egypt.

Ancient egyptian spirituality is absolutely fascinating. I just started learning about it myself. I don't think it is what they do in modern Egypt today. There are some people and groups who still practice facets of ancient Egyptian magick and spirtuality though (as already mentioned) I acquired a cd of spiritual Egyptian music and dance to it all the time. It *really* raises the energy. I too had an experience with Isis, during this dance. I feel myself transcend the mundane world and "return" to ancient Egypt. There is a well known magickian out there who teaches ancient Egyptian magick. I was going to join his group, but it seems pretty complicated to me.

Ancient Egyptians were polytheists. Most modern Egyptians are Muslim although there are Christians and probably lots of other religions represented there.

They don't practice mummification any more.
