confessed all my sins and asked God to forgive me,and no matter how many times i ask Jesus to come into my life and cleanse me of all my sins and ''save''me,it just does not work.I just keep falling back into sin.I dont want to,but i cant help myself.I seem to be in bondage to sinful things in my life, and also i cant stop coming out with lies and swearing, and getting bad tempered,as i have excessive stress and pressures in my life.I do so much want to be a christian, but at the moment its just religion with me.I go to a very traditionalist church,an anglican church in the uk,where thereare some Born Again christians may i add,but as regards to myself no sooner i say sorry to God for anything i'm aware i've done, said,or thought wrong,i'm there doing those things again,so what i'd like to know is how can i be set free and delivered from been in these bondages,as every attemp at my trying to turn from my sins and accept Jesus into my life always fails,so whats the matter with me.Sarah,uk

Try again. Christ loves you. He will wash you of your sins, for He KNOWS we are sinful creatures. Cast all your anxieties on God, and trust Him to take away what needs to be taken away, and you will feel "free-er". (If that's a word)

Just keep trying, and keep seeking.

Hi Sarah.

There is nothing wrong with you. I don't personally believe that Jesus is the one who necessarily listens to us, but I believe there are other evolved souls who can also help us.

Unfortunately, religion has made people believe that Jesus is the only enlightened soul who can help us. But I believe there are many and I believe they are always ready and willing to help.

However, they don't interfere with your free will. Ultimately, it is up to us what we do and up to us to realise when we are doing things which make us unhappy or do things which lead to us to behave in a way we don't necessarily want to. And you have done that which is the most important thing.

I believe that when we make decisions about the way we want to go in life and follow our hearts, we can find direction.

If you try and release some of the stress in your life which is making you bad tempered, you will probably start being more the person you want to be.

Follow your heart, be you, that is the most important thing you can ever do. I'm certain too Sarah that, ultimately, we don't get judged by others such as Jesus, we look back on our lives and make our own decisions about the lives we have lived.

Best wishes

My advice is that you try to focus your thoughts. You are not the person who is sinning. You are something much higher and dearer than that. I think that you know this and this is causing your unhappiness. When you are contemplating ultimate things such as your desire to please God, take time to look at your thoughts. You can examine them if you try. This should tell you that there is a higher you behind those thoughts. When you get used to doing this, examine the thoughts you think are bad ones and you might see that the real you behind the bad thoughts does not have to act on them. You will never stop the sinful thoughts occurring but you can just laugh at them and see through their deception. Remember that we are all of us alone on this journey and comparing onesself with others is not very useful. When I was in your position I prayed that God would give me strength to get through all the doubt and despair. The good news is that the more you struggle towards the truth, the stronger you will be when you finally win through. Do not ever give up trying. If you are mystically minded I recommend 'Cloud of Unknowing' for you to read, Penguin edition. The author gives amazingly insightful spiritual advice for contemplative people.
Yours in compassion KP

Dear Lady
Congratulations, you are now in the family and welcome. You have done all the right things so stop repeating them. Not all born again Christians "feel" different straight away. I am so happy for you, don't beat yourself up, things may not change for a while. It took 2 years for me to quit smoking. Don't worry if you don't feel different, the fact is you are and no one can change that. Just get on with your life as normal, don't "try" to change yourself, God will do that. Start feeding on the word of God, consider a change in Church or at least visit other churches and see how you are comfortable there.
Feelings are fickle and will change like the wind, so ignore them. The bible is Truth and it will never change. Read the New Testement, start with John's Gospel. Hook-up with born-again Christians and discuss God and your new life. Look at doing an Alpha course to get started.

Hope this helps

first of all, there is nothing the matter with you. you are human like the rest of us. we have been led to believe that what the church taught was nothing but the truth and the way we live our lives is dictated to us by the so called MEN of the cloth. it was MEN who decided what writings the bible would contain and what people should be taught. So lets for a moment come away from that and go back in time to when CHRIST lived. Yes he did indeed live, but not as we are led to believe. Jesus was a human being who lived among the people of this earth as a man, as a human. He lived in very troubled times when the romans controlled Judea and he wanted nothing more than the end to the roman occupation and an end to the roman rule of his people. His family had to flee Judea because of these troubles and they fled to Egypt where Jesus went to what today would be the equivelent of a private school. This school was run by a community called the Essenes, and they taught him everything about spirituality and the after life. When he grew up he then went out and taught others what he had learned, but sometimes this teaching fell on deaf ears, his teachings therefore were only for those who could hear and understand. He loved his people and his country and never thought for one moment that men would create an institution from his name. The rulers of this institution made it so that only menm could rule and teach and they decided what was best entered into the bible to be read. Women were left out and it is still that way today. Christ himself wouldnt have wanted things this way, he wasnt against women or marraige or even women teaching the good news to the people. Being called sinners keeps us down where the church wants us. They speak about the "wrath" of God. God loves you in everything that you are and everything that you can do that is good. He loves you even when you go wrong. He loves your humaness. We speak of God as being a man, this is what the church wants! God is the power of the Universe around, God is the strength you have within you, God is your every waking day and your every sleeping night. You live in a world run by pressure to conform to everything. BE YOURSELF!!! God will love you for it anyway. These things you do, take them and throw them a lake in your mind and fish there no more. believe and have hope in your humaness, do what you think is right, not what someone else tells you is right. God has given you the gift of life, use it to the best of your ability, dont be afraid of God, he has no wrath for you, wrath does not exist where love lives. Open your heart to each day, and do the best you can.

You need to be aware that everyone sins, even "born again" Christians. We are all human and imperfect as we are born of Adam's seed.

Being "born again" means you are born of God's seed, like Christ was, and the same spirit dwells in you as dwelled in him.

The difference is, how much of the "flesh" and how much of the "spirit" controls your life. If your flesh is in control, you will always sin. If the spirit guides you more, you will lead the cleaner, better life you want.

Read the New Testament from beginning to (almost) the end. Skip Revelation, it's not relevant right now.

Did you ask Jesus into your life or did you accept Him as your Lord as it says in Romans 10:9-10? If you did, you are saved. Full stop. Whether you sin or not.

It's possible you will need to have some "evil/dark" spirits cast out of you. Anger, for example. We'll always have anger but a spirit will cause you to express it for irrational reasons.

First, let us define what "sin" is. It is an old English word in archery that means "missed the mark". If you did not hit the bullseye, you were called a "sinner". Now there are many sins (little s and plural) but there is only one Sin (capitol S and singular). Sin is a positional state that separates you from God. When Christ died, He saved us from Sin. That is, the positional state of being "in Sin" has been eliminated. Now do we continue to commit sins? Yes. It is hard to walk in this world and not get your feet dirty. 1 John 1:8 states,

"If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us."

However, now, because of Jesus, we can have a daily cleansing...

"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

We are now clean.

A good way to look at this is you deciding to adopt an orphan. You do the legal stuff and the child is no longer an orphan but your son or daughter. This is what Jesus did on the cross. Allowed us to become adopted into the family of God.

Romans 8:15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.”

Now, does your new child play in the mud and get dirty? Yes. That is what hoses and bath tubs are for. Is he/she still your child? Yes. Do they do things wrong and need discipline? Of course! Are they still your child? Yes. Everything changed once the adoption papers were signed.

Have you been adopted in the family of God through the Savior?

If you have, then LIVE in it by faith! Still sinning? Confess it and move on in your walk. But sinning does not make you unsaved again. The legal paperwork is already done. You are adopted and nothing can change that unless you choose to walk away and denounce your adoption. Don't let the enemy rob you of the joy of your salvation.

Hazel worry not. Just be your self and keep looking to Christ. Also have your health checked out. You may be unhappy for other reasons. Perhaps also try another Church which is more suited to you. Try some. It's better to worship with people you are more connected to.

As for the sinful things in your life. Keep confessing them and ask for forgiveness, but remember NO ONE IS PERFECT. Perfect isn't in this life I don't think. We are in the grace of God and no one is without and old sin nature.

If you have given your heart to Jesus then he wont let you go, no matter what others opinions are. You don't get put in the book of life and then get tippexed out.

Sarah we do have to respond by trying to be good, but we don't always manage it. Just keep praying and reading your bible and asking Jesus to give you a revelation of truth in the knowledge of him.

Hey first off, way to go!! God knows your heart and he is so proud you are seeking Him!! Second, all those thoughts you have about not being good enough and that you will never be perfect are all Satan. God does not expect you to be perfect. In fact, he expects you to mess up. A lot. But the most amazing part is, he loves you anyway. Read 2 Cor. 12: 9-10. I used to think just like you. I quit trying to lead a Christian life because I could never be perfect. It wasn't until I realized that I will never be perfect, and yet I can still strive to be Christ-like that I found peace. Hang in there. God loves you so much.

If you feel you are in bondage with a (sin), then ask God to take it from you, give yourself to Christ. If you say you have done that and nothing is working, read the bible constantly, everytime you get a chance, God will speak to you through his Word. If you truly believe you are saved, you need not worry it is what you do after that , that you will be held accountable for. Now just pray and reaed adn you will be delivered, Have Faith.

Hon, Take a deep breath, Relax..

Contrary to popular belief, We did not get a packet of *INSTANT HOLY* and a bottle of * INSTANT GOD`S KNOWLEDGE* the second we decided to follow God.

You don`t become a brain surgeon, or a race car driver, or a Chef by reading one book. It takes time. We are not perfect. We will never be perfect. God doesn`t require perfection. He never asked for us to be perfect. God isn`t finished with us yet.

I can`t understand why anyone would let you think this is the way it works. Because I assure you, It isn`t. God made each of us special and unique. We are all precious to him. Hon, God does NOT make anything unworthy.

I would like to suggest that you window shop sort of.. Go to different denominations of churches.. If you don`t FEEL anything, Move on, God is NOT in the house.. You will find the right home for you.

The road to God is not instant. There are many paths and we all take a different one. None is right, and none is wrong. What guides me down the path, may not guide you at all.. Ask God to make it crystal clear for you.. He does hear you..
