I'm 5'4" and I weigh 104 pounds ish. last time i checked my body mass index was about 17.8 or something (decimal may not be exact) and appearently thats considered unhealthy. But is it really unhealthy? because I know i'm a fairly small person, but i eat healthy and i eat enough, and i get enough exersise. People are always tellng me how skinny i am, but when i see myself in the mirror i don't really think im as incredibly skinny as people say. If maybe i am a little too thin, should I try to gain weight in a healthy way? or should i just leave it. I'm 20 years old.
If you think i should try to gain a little weight, how can I go about doing that in a healthy way. I don't want to eat bad food.

5'4 and 104 lbs is definetly light. you could probably stand to gain a good 10 lbs of muscle and get you to a healthier weight closer to 120 lbs.

I am so glad there are more ppl like me in this world! :-) I know exactly what you're talking about. I'm skinny too, and 've been trying to gain weight all my life. The worst thing about it is comments from other people. I know that it hurts when other ppl say ur anorexic when you eat a lot, and know you're healthy. Thankfully, I've now gotten to the point that I accept and love my body the way it is - I'm a natural thin person, and other ppl will just have to accept that.

If you're natural thin, it can be very hard to gain weight. One advice I can give is, PLEASE DONT TRY TO GAIN WEIGHT BY EATING UNHEALTHY. It really won't help you, especially in the long run. Instead, try to gain weight by exercising. I'm not talking about the tredmill, but gaining muscles. (don't worry, you wont look like a boy!) It really helped me to go rock climbing, you'll use every muscle in your body, it's a total work out and after a couple of weeks you'll be able to tell a difference!

Also - I found a GREAT website on being skinny, and how to dress in a way that makes you look 'fuller' - it really matters what clothes you wear. Lighter color clothes, for example, will make you look bigger than black or dark-colored clothes. Anyways, I found a great website on this - you should ask them the same question- they really helped me. the link is: http://www.extrasmall.wordpress.com...

Good luck girl! And remember, you're beautiful the way you are!!!! :-)

BMI is extra of a coaching - a muscular athletic individual can easily have a BMI indicating that they are obese. So, what it fairly is taken into consideration necessary seem at your overall well-being and well-being. yet once you're stressful bypass to a physician and/or nutritionist.
