and a ton more but I'm supposed to be studying. While I know, by far, not all Christians think that we need an official religion or that all religion is false and shouldn't be practiced...people like this scare me sometimes. Is the first amendment the only thing stopping them? Can you IMAGINE if it wasn't there what GW Bush would be doing??

Pagans aren't bashed by Christians? What are you smoking? Christianity isn't the only faith that gets messed with. You have persecution complex

On the other hand, is the First Amendment the only thing keeping Christianity in America?
By the way, the phrase is "freedom OF religion"...
Not "freedom FROM religion"...

If it ever does happen, there will be civil war amongst the Christians to find out which sect is the "Only One".
I think it's hilarious when Christians say that "they" are trying tp purge Christianity from the US. Just who is "they" anyway and just how did the Minority get that kind of power? Considering a good 85% of America claims to be Christian, I seriously doubt that the other 15% is doing much of anything but hoping that the 1st Amendment stays intact (since some of the others, such as our privacy, has been all but taken away completely).
Bush would be doing exactly what he's doing now. He'd still have to lie in order to convince the majority that what he's doing is "Christ like".

Look at some of the opinions on this board - yes, they would LOVE to make Christianity the "official" United States constitution.
Today I heard a prayer in an organizational meeting for the Christian religion and 10 Commandments to be spread throughout the land and world so "that all might enjoy peace and love". Huh? I had an extremely hard time not yelling that wasn't constitutional. Yeah, I will say something but right then wasn't the moment.
Scary stuff. I don't think they'd approve of me leading a prayer to Odin.

The First Amendment is a protection FOR the People. But that is also why there was no state religion established in the beginning. Many people came to this land for religious freedom, and that is the purpose of guaranteeing it in the First Amendment, so that it would not just be assumed and one day be lost.

Actually, the only thing that stops them is the fear of reprisals when they fail. The possibility of arrest, trials and jail for OTHER things they would ahve to do in order to accomplish taking over America is far more threatening to them than obeying the first amendment. That being said, the conclusion can be made that since there is a point they will not go beyond, they don't really believe as strongly that they are right as they want us to think they do.

You know, I will fight and die for freedom of religion, but let them have thier Theocracy. Let them use thier bible as a form of government. While they are at it, let's elect a Hitler-follower to the white house and start using Communism. I mean, if they are going to become dictators with thier holy book as thier doctrine, let's just go all out here.
Personally, if they want a Christian-Only country, they can go find some little island and destroy it with thier wishes for a Theocracy.
The fanatics can do whatever they wish, they can't stop me from being a Druid. Unless they are prepared for a violent uprising, thier ideas for a Theocracy will never work.

It takes more than one man to change the constitution that's why the real power is congress not the president. There will never be a one religion as long as people get out there and fight for freedom, all freedom.

Yes, they would totally do that. Some people can't imagine anything could be wrong with a Christian Theocracy - after all , they're the good guys. So everyone should be made to be like them, for our own good.

I am a Christian who is wiling to die for the 1st Amendment and the entire Bill of Rights to live. My individual life is very unimportant compared to the freedom of our nation. Bush and is badism are better suited for a fascist dictatorship than leadership in a democratic country.

Pretty much, yes. And don't put too much stock into the safety of the Constitution. Recent laws have already negated the 4th amendment.
