If I don't have to be a member to survive, than why do any of you bother? Also, if the Witnesses use the "imperfection" as their defense when they publish false prophesies, etc, why can't I use the "imperfection" defense if God is going to kill me at Armageddon?

Louis: You're kidding right? You said:

"If we thought only Witnesses were going to survive Armageddon then why do we go door to door preaching?
I thought that made sense. I mean why are they preaching to others if they are the only ones to survive?"

They are trying to convert others so they will then be Witnesses and survive.

Louis, you also said:

"they must think that it is important for persons to be in their organization to gain this closeness with God. They must think that they are right or they would be in another religon they thought was right."

Everyone in a Religion thinks it is right. What does that prove. I was a Witness for 50 years and I thought and was taught that if you were not a witness, you woiuld die at Armageddon., with few exceptions.

But the weasel out answer is "Only Jehovah knows".

Vot, make sure you tell EVERYONE.

How many Witnesses are in Iraq, Afghanastan, Iran and such places? How many witnesses there. Look at the last service year in the WT. Not many, if any. Do you seriously think that the JW's will have much of an impact on the Muslim world? Most of those people are toast according to Witness dogma. The vast majority have never even seen a Bible. I've heard the "good news preached to all the inhabited earth" all my life. How's that going for you in the Muslim, Hindu and Buddist world?

Vot- Chk the 2005 servcie year report. You grew by 1.5%. Most of that is Witness Kids coming of age and becoming publishers.

Memorial attendance was down by over 300,000.

Your growth is rolling off. Where is the great increase spoken of so often? I don't know where you live, but I'm sure there are areas that are new to the JW's.

And they don't report on some countries for fear of reprisal. Trust me, you ain't making much headway in the Muslim, Hindu and Buddist worlds.

VANESSA- None of what you say makes any sense. Which is why I'm a deist and don't believe in the fairy tails you call the Bible.

I was a witness for 50 years. What a waste of my life. But you continue deluding yourself.

2007-12-09 12:12:22 · update #7

Vanessa, does it make sense that the creator would create a situation where most of his creation would die?

Why did he create the rest of us? For his amusement and yours while he slaughters millions of innocent men, women and children? It makes no sense that the majority of people would be killed because they were not part of an obscure sect that makes false prophesies and flip flops on many issues

No JW can be seen answering such a question publicly with a simple 'Yes.' Nor can they say 'No' without qualifying that remark because the real answer is what their leaders have printed:

'Your attitude toward the wheatlike anointed 'brothers' of Christ [the 144,000 remnant today] and the treatment you accord them will be the determining factor as to whether you go into 'everlasting cutting-off' or receive 'everlasting life'. Prove yourself to be a loyal companion of the anointed 'wheat' class, the 'faithful and discreet slave,' [about a dozen or so JW leaders in the Governing Body] whom Christ has appointed to provide spiritual 'food at the proper time.' Keep active in the ingathering work.'

That's perfectly clear. So, all you JW answerers, there's no need to waffle.

We must go back into history for that answer. During the flood of Noah's day only his family survived.
When he accepted the Jewish nation as his nation didn't he say that surrounding nations must be exterminated?
They were the Baal worshippers that the middle east has gotten their religion from. Did the Isrealites preach to those people? Or where they just killed by God?
When has he accepted the majority of people to serve him?
Didn't Jesus say that narrow is the road and cramped the gate. The guest was few would be saved.
I cannot believe that you served Jehovah for 50 years and then quit? That let's us all know we cannot let our guard down thinking we are doing all that we can.
In answer to your question that is why we preach so vigerously because we do not want any to die at Armageddon. But yes, you do have to be one of Jehovah's Witnesses to survive the great tribulation.

Jehovah says all those not serving him will be destroyed at Armageddon. What does serving him mean to you?

We bother because Jesus told us to tell EVERYONE about God's Kingdom. That's our role. What you do with info is up to you. No one will plead ignorance of our message, though.

EDIT: You are either ignoring the facts or just do not know. Jehovah's Witnesses are everywhere. In some places they are just not as open as in others, due to circumstances. Jesus said the ENTIRE INHABITED EARTH will be covered with our preaching, and IT WILL. Just several years ago you could not say "Jehovah's Witness" here where I live, now who doesn't know us?

EDIT 2: People make the mistake of thinking that we preach to make converts. We preach to give a witness. What people do with that information is up to them.

God is not impressed by numbers. Only 8 people survived the flood. Israel was a small nation in comparison with its neighbours. Only 300 men were in Gideon's army against 135,000 of the enemy. The Bible says that the road to everlasting life will be found by a few.

We are happy when people respond positively to the good news and are in line for everlasting life. But that is not the #1 reason we preach. We'd still preach even if we were 100% sure no one would convert. That way, no one's blood is on our hands as it says in Ezekiel.

I don't think any Witnesses will say that he is. Because God is the only judge of who gets destroyed. They think they need to be obedient to the laws in the bible.
But I was studying and still am. But they never told me that if Armageddon comes I will be destroyed. They said that is not their decision to make who lives and who dies.
If we thought only Witnesses were going to survive Armageddon then why do we go door to door preaching?
I thought that made sense. I mean why are they preaching to others if they are the only ones to survive?
they must think that it is important for persons to be in their organization to gain this closeness with God. They must think that they are right or they would be in another religon they thought was right.
My wife was a Babtist and is going to be babtised as a witness. she said, "If I thought Babtist was right I would still be one, but I don't so I want to be a witness."
But she is a good person and I don't think God would kill her.
I think you are just trying to put them down and they are nice people.
Is this one of those rock questions? Can God make a rock he can't lift?

I'm not a Jehovah's Witness either, but I know a few, and have looked at their doctrine, without any intention of ever joining them of course.

If you ask them when they call on you if you have to be a JW to survive Armageddon, they won't give you a direct answer. They will usually say something along the lines of "Jehovah will decide that, he is the judge".

Their literature doesn't say that though. They call themselves the only true religion, and regards all other faiths as agents of satan. They don't believe that anyone other than themselves will survive Armageddon. They may disput this, but their leaders tell them in their publications that those who are doing things the Watchtower way, ie attending 5 meetings per week, along with the various assemblies they have, knocking on doors etc will be saved.

Here's a link to a quote from a Watchtower article that will prove that the JWs think only they will survive.

"Symeon has related thoroughly how God for the first time turned his attention to the nations to take out of them a people for his name." -- Acts 15:14

"In order that those who remain of the men may earnestly seek Jehovah, together with people of all the nations, people who are called by my name, says Jehovah, who is doing these things." -- Acts 15:17

"For “everyone who calls on the name of Jehovah will be saved.” However, how will they call on him in whom they have not put faith? How, in turn, will they put faith in him of whom they have not heard? How, in turn, will they hear without someone to preach? How, in turn, will they preach unless they have been sent forth? Just as it is written: “How comely are the feet of those who declare good news of good things!”" -- Romans 10:13-15

"Nevertheless I ask, They did not fail to hear, did they? Why, in fact, “into all the earth their sound went out, and to the extremities of the inhabited earth their utterances.”" -- Romans 10:18

"You will receive power when the holy spirit arrives upon you, and you will be witnesses of me both in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the most distant part of the earth." -- Acts 1:8

The Bible makes it clear those who do not worship him the way he requires will be destroyed. Better make sure you are in good an approved state. That includes me.

The judgement day will be a day of the destruction of Evil people, if someone is inside of the congregation but it is evil , that person will be destroyed, the same happens with someone that is not JWs but has no knowledge and Jesus find him that is not evil, he won´t be destroyed.

Today I recommend to everybody to go and see movie Golden Compass , or better read the book.It will give you other point of view at things. At the same time you can take with you your niece, or your children or your grandchildren, if you are at that age , and make them happy and wise.
