Yes you can.But you must never cheat while your on this diet.If you do you will pile on the pounds.once you get over the first fortnight with no bread ect,and the smelly breath,it's a doddle.I lost 90lbs.then gave up.but yes it does work and it works really quick.

I know you can eat carbs and lose weight. I have recently lost 48lbs in just over 5 months and I ate carbs.
I ate only:-
Lean meats, poultry, fish, eggs, vegetables, (including potatoes, brown rice, brown pasta) but no bread, wholegrains, beans & pulses, non sugary cereals, skimmed milk, low fat dairy products, coffee, tea, sugar free beverages, Healthy oils (olive, sunflower, safflower, flaxseed, & rapeseed. (Limited to 2 tsp a day.
Carbs are very low in fat, as long as you keep them plain and simple. Don't smother them in butter, cream or sauce. Keep pasta sauces to a tomatoe base sauces (keep away from cream and cheese sauces.
I did not eat any junk food, ready made meals you buy in the supermarket, processed meats, biscuits, cakes, chocolate, alcohol, or sugared fizzy drinks. I do have these now, but ONLY IN MODERATION. As these are high in saturated fat, sugar and salt. These add to those unwanted pounds.
I also joined gym and attended 5/6 times a week for 1 hour at a time, doing cardio only. I know that this acellerated my weight loss, and I still attend to now maintain my weight.
Exercise and healthy eating works perfectly together and this is the key to keeping the weight off. Once you have the balance right it is really quite easy.

definetly....when there are sufficient calories in the diet and the carb intake is decreased for additional protein this forces the body to utilize a higher amount of fatty acids for energy. converting dietary proteins to energy is very inefficient so the body will turn to it's fat stores.
controlling body fat is all about controlling insulin. controlling the carb intake is the easiest way to control insulin as carbs have the greatest effect on blood sugar and insulin secretion. proteins and fats have the smallest effect on blood sugar and insulin levels. the level of body fat is a direct indicator of the bodies current ability to metabolize and utilize dietary nutrients effeciently. when the body fat is high insulin sensitivity is low and more nutrients get transported into the fat cell then into the muscle cell. fat cells do not become resistant to the effects of insulin. needless to say a high carb intake while trying to reduce the body fat is near impossible because of this.
a good place to start at is 45% protein, 35% carbs and 20% healthy fats

Your system is obviously burning up a number of calories from fat, and physical exercise makes you melt away these more quickly
