I love hearing the retelling of the story, the resistence, the victory, and G-d's Grace. It makes me want to cry, knowing HE is an awesome G-d. That and seeing children open their gifts, their happiness is sweet. Thank you for the Holiday wishes, Debra.

OK, asking people what their favorite part of the celebration IS a question.
I don't know what you posted before, but if it wasn't a question, that's why it was removed.
The violation notice you got had a link to the Guidelines in it. READ them.
If you're removed posts didn't actually violate them (which you can only know if you actually read them), then you can appeal at the place in the Forum set up for that purpose.
"Offensive" is not one of the guidelines (though things like hate speech is).
But "chat" such as wishing people happy holidays, IS a violation.
Maybe that's what the reporters took you to be doing.
(Not Jewish, so I can't address your actual question.)

I'm not Jewish, but sometimes light Hannukah Candles. I enjoy the act of lighting candles and remembering that God allowed the temple light to stay burning for 8 days.
I don't know why some people delete questions that aren't offensive. I always reply to Yahoo, but I don't think anything is done. The best thing would be to ask again.

Happy Chanukkah. I didn't see the original question. Favorite part would be the reading of Ma'oz Tzur which begins with the words .....
O mighty Rock of my salvation,
to praise You is a delight.
Restore my House of Prayer
and there we will bring a thanksgiving offering.
( I"m not Jewish)

Even breathing is bound to offensive to the "professionally offended" who usually themselves are insensitive to realizing when they insult others
Blessed Hannukah! Blessed Advent! Blessed Solstice! Blessed Christmas! Blessed New Year!

I see nothing unreasonable in your question.
I am not Jewish, but I still wish you a happy Hanukkah. In fact your question prompted me to look up the meaning of your festival and I found it most interesting.
I now have a little more knowledge to share with the world. Thank you.
