I would like to hear from both sides about their experiences wiht David's Bridal. My sister in law is getting married and wants me to get my daughter's dress from there. My daughter is 7 and the wedding isn't for another 8 months. I know it takes time for ordering, but what happens when they won't return my dress and give me the right size????? Anyone have experiences with exchanges??

I know that it is my sister in laws wedding, but she just suggested I go there. She said that she doesn't care what my daughter wears or where I get the dress.

My sister just recently got married and used David's Bridal for my daughter's Flower Girl gown but got her dress and the Bridesmaids' dresses elsewhere. I found David's Bridal to be somewhat "money hungry" and not very personable. I did have an attendant when my daughter was trying on different gowns, but she was never nearby - I would have to look for her. They also wanted their money promptly and would not make any exceptions. I do not recommend them.

I just recently purchased my wedding gown at David's Bridal, and I've also purchased 2 prom dresses and 2 bridesmaid dresses from them...all at different stores, on different sides of the country. I know that there are many David's horror stories, but to be 100% honest, I haven't run into any problems as of yet. It is true that they charge an arm and a leg for alterations, and they have a "no return" policy. I've heard that some stores do allow for in-store exchanges, but I definitely wouldn't count on it. If I were you, I'd check with the manager on lead-times for flower girl dress orders and wait until closer to the date to order the dress.

I really considered purchasing my bridal gown from a more upscale bridal retailer, but when I walked in I saw the most amazing dress, for an even more amazing price, and that was that. It came in over a month before the estimated arrival date (total time for a wedding gown order was only 6 weeks), and it was a brand new style that had just arrived in the store the day before I made my purchase. I'm planning on ordering bridesmaids and flower girl dresses from the same shop (in Beaverton, Oregon). Since I ordered my gown there, they'll each get a discount. (You might check to see if your sister-in-law ordered her gown from David's.)

I had a great experience with David's Bridal both as a bride and a bridesmaid. No bridal shop accepts exchanges or returns so if that's what you are worried about it doesn't really matter where you go. If you are worried about the child growing then buy a size larger. All dresses for weddings, even for children, have to be altered anyway.

I got my wedding dress from there and the dress for my bridesmaid. I was also a bridesmaid in my friends wedding and I got my dress there too. They will NOT give you returns they should be able to measure your daughter and give you the right size though. If you are in doubt you can always order a size larger and have it taken in. Be wary though... their alterations cost a small fortune and they will want the money upfront before they process the order.

Is the bride getting her gown at davids? They offer a discount to the whole wedding party if that is the case.

I only had excellent experiences at David's Bridal....of course, level of service and professionalism can differ from store to store.

As a bride, they treated me as if I was the only one there....they were patient and really listened to what I wanted and the look I wanted to achieve.

When I returned to do bridesmaid dress shopping, their consultants were more than eager and happy to help me locate the right size, shape, and fit for my girls. And having 2 bridesmaids 3000 miles across the country, they were actually trying to coordinate their dresses as well. Alterations were quick and easy, and I waited just about 20 minutes to have everything done and ready.

I couldn't ask for a better shopping experience!

i would call davids bridal ask them whats the closet to the wedding date you can order a flower girl dress! I would say 8 weeks. Just explain you have a growing child and are unsure with her growth spurts if you buy it now if it will fit her in 8 months! I have a 14 yrs old nephew who i swear grows a leat 2 inches everyweek i took him to get measured for his tux and the guy at mr tux said he would order this size but to bring him in the week before and if the size has change he can put a rush on pants to be sent!!!

I worked at Davids bridal... for 3 hours! its was horrible. They are NOT customer focused, they are money hungry. I heard and saw things that repulsed me as a sales person and human being. It was total chaos and just horrible. Customers were left waiting for no explination of why. Dresses had magically disappeared and i heard a sales women tell a customer "Well, umm.. yeah, sorry.. what am i supposed to do? The dress isnt here" Uumm.. this chicks wedding was in 4 days!! oh my stars. It was horrible. i will never step foot in their again.

I cant offer any alternative that could be equivelant, price wise. The more formal dress shops are going to be more expensive. Possibly shopping at a department store for a simple childs formal dress could work as easily.

I really didn't have anything positive to say about David's. I told them I was having a beach wedding, and the dresses they showed me were more appropriate for a cathedral grand affair--long sleeves, heavy satin...when I said I didn't think that would work for the sand, she said I should just bustle it! WHAT? I found the people who work there are just working a job-they might as well be working at Sears or the supermarket.

Everyone's posts make me even more afraid to go there!

I've heard NOTHING BUT BAD THINGS about David's Bridal. Beautiful dresses, but terrible customer service.

Check out theknot.com and it can hook you up with different stores, prices, styles for flower girl dresses.

i loved davids bridal when i bought my dress...my attendant was a real charm...but i don't recommend to get a childs dress there....they are very expensive and their return policy isn't very friendly...since the bride isn't too picky its really up to you
