It doesn't compare at all. The "jewish faith" (Judaism) pre-dates Jesus by many, many centuries. Jesus was Jewish. He had no role in Judaism. The "christian faith" (Christanity) developed after Jesus life on earth, as describe by the apostles.

Jews, like Christians, await the coming of the messiah. Jews do not believe that the messiah has come at all yet, while Chirstians believe thet Jesus was the messiah and will return. But basically Jews and Christians believe in the same god and are waiting for the same thing. The difference between Jews and Christians lies not so much in the "belief" of Jesus, but rather in the concept of Original Sin.

Hope that wasn't too long and drawn out. ;)

Jesus does not feature at all in Judaism. We do not view him as a prophet or as the messiah. For us he was just another young radical; one of many. He is not relevant to Judaism.

To correct a previous answer: 'messianic jews' are NOT Jewish. They are Christian; all their beliefs are Christian. A person cannot believe that Jesus was the son of G-d and the messiah AND be Jewish - this is clearly stated in Jewish religious law.

Anyone who doesn't believe me can just read up about how groups such as 'jews for jesus' began. They exist to try and convert 'real' Jews to Christianity, and they are dressed up to look 'Jewish' because Christianity itself was not getting good results in converting Jews. This is all fact, you don't have to just take my word for it, do an online search and see for yourselves!

Some Jews believe he was a prophet, some believe he was a false prophet. Only Messianic Jews believe that he was the messiah. No Jews equate his with God because this breaks the Noahides and the First Commandment.

Jews believe Jesus was another false messiah that tried to turn Jews away from Judaism.

Some Jews believe He is the Messiah and that makes them
Christian. Other Jews probably believe He is just a prophet and
still await their Messiah. I know He is the Messiah, God/Man.

The only information we have about Jesus comes from the Christian Gospels.

And they tell us that Jesus was basically an orthodox Jew from the West Bank.

In Judaism, Jesus was not the son of G-d, nor the messiah, nor a prophet, nor a rabbi. In short, he is irrelevant.

As for someone else's answer regarding "Messianic Judaism", that is not a sect of Judaism and is not considered as such except by the Messianics themselves and some Christian groups.

Jews don't recognize Jesus or Muhammad(PBUH*). Muslims see Jesus(PBUH*) as the Messiah, son of Mariam and a Prophet in Islam. Muslims don't believe that ALLAH(Subhanna wa ta'ala) has partners or sons. ALLAH(Subhanna wa ta'ala) is unlike his creations. Jews believe that Jesus(PBUH*) did not fulfill a lot of prophecies that make him the Messiah. They will continue to reject the Messiah until the Djjal(AntiChrist with one eye comes) and that will be their Messiah.

Jews for the most part believe Jesus was some random schlub who had the misfortune to be executed by the Romans. He's not relevant to our religion. Period.
