In times past, long ago one would simply pray and give thanks and praise to the Creator. One would ask for the blessings in alignment with Gods word. One would practice fairness and love with all others. These times are riddled with new age hog wash! Buddha hooda, Hindu shmindu meditating wackos! Hey sis, do yr eyes looked ****** up? do you look a bust? Do you really like hot cocoa in the morning? Have you prayed for scoobys soul lately? What do scones and panties have in common? Does the wattage in the light bulb really decide your intelligence? How far is heaven? Where does the wind begin and end? Can you touch your toes? Why does the forest let the trees get in the way? Do you love the unlovable? Would you give your last joint to a man in need? These my cosmic friend, are the questions of the universe! Ponder and live! Peace!

I do both. First I ask the Lord to guide me in all That I do and say. I try to always help others and pray for those to ask for guidance also. I ask for forgiveness in all that I might have done, that was not pleasing in his sight. I pray daily for guidance. I know I slip up a lot of the time without even realizing it. I then try not to do the wrong things again. We are not perfect and never will be. We must strive to do better each and everyday. We should also pray often and seek him out in all that we do. Good question. God Bless.

I do both. I try to do the right things.... but when I fail, I always ask God for forgiveness (and try to make it right with the person I wronged, if such action will be beneficial to them). The benefit of asking God for forgiveness of my irresponsibility is that it renews my hope and faith... my positive outlook. So instead of despairing of my so hard to get rid of weaknesses, becoming depressed and then becoming even more harmful to others, I allow unconditional love for myself (I found this through faith in the Atonement of Jesus Christ) and keep trying to improve. If I let my failures get me down, I become dark with despair, which then leads to even more irresponsibility.
Mindfulness in terms of staying in this moment... this is possible for me because I am aware of a Saviour. I guess, the inate justice within me demands that some reparation be made. In knowing that my sins are taken care of, I can forget the past and the future. Without that, I don't think I ever would have allowed myself to enjoy the moment.
So you see, the two go hand in hand.
Peace.
EDIT: As an LDS, we covenant each week to "always remember him" (ie Jesus Christ). In effect, we ask ourselves (before every action), "What would Jesus do?" This is how we worship God... in the mindfulness of our actions.
eiere, I love your answer. :-)

Another good question today. I see myself and I respond to myself............if my response to something is in thought, word, or deed unkind, I soon enough know it and am able to replace that energy with mindfulness and kindness. Each of us has chosen to incarnate in this body, at this time, amongst these people, and to live out this life to give and receive experiences that guide our soul's on into further dimensions or realms after this. Responsibility means something to each of us, differently, depending on the reason for coming this time. My responsibility it to pass on certain information, and to do it without any pressure on anyone. When I am weak in my bodily life, in whatever way, I find I need to be responsible to myself......and all we are, and do, and be, affects others around us. It is my responsibility to be responsible. The flesh is weak. Therefore we are all weak. To be mindful is to be strong. We are all strong.

I pray to Deity like all depended on him/her, & I practice mindfulness like it all depended on just me. The traditional Christians have a great saying, "God helps those who help themselves", or "Faith without works is dead". Even in the Bible it states that each must work out his own salvation, but I also know miracles do happen, I'm one. Blessings.

Some fine answers given already..perhaps some a little off the track..may I answer from a Buddhist's perspective..perhaps it may shed some light on the responsibility of Mindfulness and actions and consequence..
Mindfulness practise keeps us in the moment, living life as a series of vignettes as it were...each moment then forming as the previous one wanes...we walk here, we interact there, we do this or that, each moment different from the last yet each moment's consequence lost on our awareness unless we are in fact aware that we are doing what we are doing...if lost to our awareness then the consequences of those past actions will be lost as well...
Our responsibility then is being aware of what we are doing and being aware of the consequences of each choice we make...this is Mindfulness...
Being able to touch your toes..as Sandra.B suggests..is irrelevent if there is no purpose in doing so...being aware that phenomea is impermanent though is another matter...being aware that others exist...have motivations and feelings is another matter...being aware that clinging to the body, feelings, mental formations, perceptions and the vagaries of the consciousness is another matter...clinging will lead to becoming and becoming will lead to suffering...that this clinging is selfish and has subsequent consequence is another matter...
Mindfulness then is another matter..another matter than mindlessness or ignorance of these phenomena and it is Mindfulness which is our responsibility for without Mindfulness there can be no awareness of consequences...no awareness that what we do affects others and no awareness that scones and where the wind starts from is of no value to learning how to end suffering....how to be free of it and then how to help others be thus free of it.....
Mindfulness is practised not just for ourselves..it is practised for the protection of others so that we are protected and for the protection of ourselves so that others are protected...it is a practise of mutual protection rather than mutual ignorance..If we each protect ourselves from ignorance then it is in such protection that we mutually protect each other...from ignorance..and from irresponsibility because we each take responsibility for our actions....imagine if all Beings did thus....
Peace...in the coming season of Joy...from
A Buddhist....

Perhaps both. I pray for mindfulness - I ask God to lead me through the day.. I ask Him to help me have the words He wants me to share.... I am mindful of needing Him. I
What I do practice in regards to my mindlessness, is to again..pray...to ask Him to forgive me for the stupid thing I may have done, whether through impulse, or just me thinking I knew how to do it without seeking Him. I also practice prayer regarding my mindlessness, in asking Him to strengthen my desire to seek after His will.

no person helps orphans or persons in disaster? Huh? The Roman Catholic Church on my own is presented helping tens of millions of persons worldwide who're orphaned, ravenous, sick, homeless, etc. and that's only one church -- to declare no longer something of all the others obtainable doing a similar ingredient. Your assertion says, or implies, that there is not any help obtainable in any admire for "innocents in disaster." that's why you used words like "by no ability" and "no person." properly, sorry, sir, yet you're merely uncomplicated incorrect. Oh, by ability of how, there are in all probability tens of millions of ants and different bugs worldwide who're loss of existence good now because of the fact they're sinking in water without one to assist them. This runs opposite to your implied declare that bugs continuously get stored even while they do no longer pray -- on a similar time as people who do pray by no ability do. .
