my family is pretty religious, (we are Catholic) but don't get me wrong i love God. I believe in him im just searching and i don't like going to church anymore AT ALL.
our priest isn't the best in the world, and i think we should have bibles by our seats, which we don't.
i just don't really know what to do because my parents don't want to switch churches because we have been there for a long time. it's a big church though, alot of people we don't know.
but... like every week i say i dont want to go....and my mom sometimes plays piano at the services so she HAS to go...but they make me go........
my brother is 12 years older than me (im 16) and he NEVER goes to church anymore....after he moved out he hasn't gone since.
....but what would you do????
sorry this is kinda a long question.

Absolutely not!

When asked if you want to go to church, answer "no." No is a complete answer that does not require explanation.

Find a church that has the things you are looking for. You can do this on your own.

Find a priest that you can talk about these differences.

You see, at some point you have to take these matters into your own heart, and it sounds like you are at that point.

Jesus tells us to pray silently, in or our place and without showing it to others. Your inner spiritual growth starts now.

Your parents have shown you the way to the path, now you can go down the path yourself. That is how God wants you to go.

Don't limit yourself to just Catholic churches. I am Catholic and would love for you to stay in the church. But there are many other Christian churches out there that are perfectly legitimate too. I think though the catholic faith has the fullness of what Jesus gave to us. But you may come back to it later in life. that's OK.

If you think things should be more scriptural, and you should have the bible at the seat, then consider that you can bring your own bible to church too.

I believe that for you church is everywhere because you do believe. I see church as a place for those who outwardly believe.
It is because of tradition and has notthing to do with faith.
The bible says forsake not the fellowship with believers.
It also says where ever two or more are gathered in my name there shall I be.
It also says when you believe and accept God he resides pemanently in you, and that you should study the bible to show yourself approved.
The catholic church uses the quotes it wants to control and oppress people from finding their own personal relationship with God, and further it admonishes one man to have the relationship and talk with God, claiming that man to be infallable.
Only one man was ever infallable, which is Jesus Christ.
That is the point of Christianity.
He who was without sin took on the sin of mankind so that we could live without condemnation and have a relationship with God again, knowing we have been forgiven because we are loved.
Catholics are very strict with their beliefs and I understand that it is very hard for you to become an independant believer, but you are on the right track, and will I'm sure immancipate yourself without insulting your family.
I would reccommend that you find an open bible study which will help you with your needs of true fellowship. Church will always be the same, but saying no might not be so easy.
Just keep saying how you feel and build your own relationship.
Accept your parents as they are without trying to convince them, for they are content with their religion.
Recgonize those things that are good in them and the people who attend your church, as you slowly build your faith and pull away from that which leaves you dissatisfied.
Keep your relationships good with them and understand they might be offended that you want more.
You might have to wait until you move out, like your brother, but this cannot truly hinder your faith, only make you bored and uncomfortable once a week.

I've totally been there before. I loved God with all my heart, but I didn't feel like I could fully worship Him at church when I didn't feel a stirring in my heart.

Talk to your parents about it; tell them you want to bring your personal relationship with God to its utmost potential and reality. Let them know that God may be needing to grow but from a different way than how your church has been teaching you. Try another Catholic church and see how the priest is.

Either way, the most important thing is to grow in your relationship with Christ :]

Get yourself a Bible and read the New Testament for yourself and find out if what the catholic church teaches is really true. I am sorry to have to say that, but what they teach is not true and you will not find the RELATIONSHIP with God that you are seeking there.

All they do is tell you to perform good deeds to be pleasing to God, whereas God wants you to have a love relationship with Him that will never end.

So, tell your parents that from now on you will read your Bible during church time instead. Ask God to lead and teach you as you read the Bible.

Can you not take your own bible? I can understand why you wouldn't want to go to a catholic church. Ask your parents if you can go to other churches. Some have buses. Try that and see what you think of other churches.

You might have to defer to your parents' wishes at your age, but there's nothing unusual, or wrong, about that.

I was also very concerned when I transitioned from very religious to "non," but I feel great about it now. Some things just aren't for everyone.

Acts
17:23 For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN MIGHTY ONE. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.

17:24 that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Ruler of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;

17:25 Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;

17:26 And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;

17:27 That they should seek Him, if possibly they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:

17:28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

17:29 Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of YHWH, we ought not to think that the Most High is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device.

Matthew

6:5 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

6:6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

6:7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

6:8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

I am a minister, I don't go to church, I don't have a congregation. Does that make me less with G_D? No, for I follow His book... not a man's building.
