Satan: Bet I could make one of your loyal followers lose faith.

God: Go for it.

Satan: Oooo, how about Job?

God: Sure, but don't kill him.

Satan: *makes Job's life a living hell*

Job: This sucks...but I still believe in God.

Satan: *makes Job's life more of a living hell.*

Job: This really sucks...but I still believe in God.

Satan: FINE. You win.

God: Bwaahahaha. *makes Job's life 10x better than before*

Job: See? God rocks.

Job is in form a dramatic poem. It is probably the oldest of the Bible books, and was certainly written before the giving of the law. It would have been impossible, in a discussion covering the whole field of sin, of the providential government of God, and man's relation to Him, to avoid all reference to the law if the law had then been known. Job was a veritable personage (Eze_14:20; Jam_5:11), and the events are historical. The book sheds a remarkable light on the philosophic breadth and intellectual culture of the patriarchal age. The problem is, Why do the godly suffer?
Job is in seven parts:
1. Prologue (Job 1:1 - 2:8).
2. Job and his wife (Job 2:9-10).
3. Job and his three friends (Job 2:11 - 31:40).
4. Job and Elihu (Job 32:1 - 37:24).
5. Jehovah and Job (Job 38:1 - 41:34).
6. Job's final answer (Job 42:1-6).
7. Epilogue (Job 42:7-17).
The events recorded in Job cover a period within 1 year.

It is really a story of the struggle between Satan and the Lord.

It is the triumph of free will.

The Lord grants us free will. We can choose what to believe. The Lord does not force himself on us.

Satan is sure that this is folly and that man, given free will, will always choose evil if given the opportunity.

God stops protecting Job (which in reality is true of all of us, we are all Job, living without God's protection). Satan gets to tempt him. Job gives in and falls. But, they key is that in his darkest despair he knows that everything that he is comes from God. So even the darkest thing only help him to see the Glory of God even more.

Satan gives in.

In reality, then God giving us free will allows for the highest and most awesome praise to God we can give.

According to the story, God and the devil got in a bet over whether the devil could get Job to renounce God. God gave the devil pemission to act against Job, and he took away Jobs health, family, wealth, and everything that he had. Job never renounced God even under the urging of his wife. He was then rewarded with the return of everything 10-fold.

The story teaches us that Satan was an angel that enlightened people through trials and tribulation. His role evolved over time to the current evil tempter that is common today. For the rest of the story, read it yourself.

Basically god made a bet with the devil that if he destroyed Job's life, Job would still love him. The devil was like, "you're on." so God tortured Job for a long time, killing anything and everything he had in order to prove his point to the devil. Nice eh?

In order to prove Job's loyalty and devotion to God, God let Satan open a huge can of whoopass on him, taking everything away from him and just throwing every evil at Job that could be thrown, and Job remained patient and devoted to God.

job was a very good man, rich and helping others and very generous. then satan told god he only liked him 4 his riches, so god tested job by killing all his family and making him a poor hobo. job still loved good no matter what that happened, so god gave everyting 2x much back.he was a lot lot richer and had a better family. he lived happily to his death bed.
