The Military doesn't give us those things because they aren't going to force people to take whey protien because they may not want to take that or other supplements. They don't give us steroids because they are an illegal substance. The military allows soldiers freedom to decide what they eat and drink as well as the supplements that they wish to take. If a soldier takes steroids they will be charged with Use of an illegal substance.

Because the military knows that the best way to improve health and physical fitness is through a balanced diet and lots of exercise.

Because they don't need it. You are eating about 5000-8000 calories a day and working out about 18 hours of the day (marches, jogs, lifting, etc.). After basic is when you actually start specializing in something.

I know for a fact, I'm a Vet, the military gives you three good solid meals and that should be enough. I've seen young guys actually gain weight as we were going through basic.

Because prolonged use of steroids has serious side effects and the US taxpayer doesnt want to be paying out hugh court settlements to sick veterans in future years.

Because the military was meant for people who can handle it. If a soldier needs steroids then he can't handle it.
