Tough topic. But to many, it is very real. I read a book
about a woman, in a church, who went through the
same thing, with false prophets. And they tried to
bring her down, with sickness and disease. Is it
true when they say, it can't hurt you, if you do not
believe ? Some say yes, some say no. I wonder if
there are some on this panel, who are a Wiccan, or
Wizard. Explain what is it that you do. And this question
is for everyone. Whether you have experienced this or
not. There are those who think that this force, can even
affect entire communities, and neighborhoods. Is this
true ? What do you think world ? Do you believe in
witchcraft ? Can it really mess with your mind ?
Answer here.

A) Witchcraft can mean either nature worship or devil worship. First clarify which kind you mean.

B) If the former, it's usually harmless. Its practioners are rather eco-conscious and that's a good thing (sorry Martha, but it's a great saying so I use it).

C) If the latter, then yes, it can really mess with your mind, but not through any innate "power". It does this because those drawn to it are usually emotionally and/or psychologically crippled to start with. This stuff merely finishes the job.

D) The effect is most often personal. But, if you live in a community where the majority of your neighbors believe in it, then yes, the negative effects can be more far-reaching. See Jamaica and the whole zombie thing. Or parts of New Orleans and the voodoo cult.

I am Wiccan and I believe in witchcraft, although they are not the same thing. Wicca is my religion. Witchcraft is a magical practice. You don't need one for the other, although many Wiccans also work witchcraft.

Some people believe that magic (witchcraft or otherwise) can only affect a believer. Others, including me, disagree. However, I also believe that it is very difficult to affect another person. Also, the bigger the change desired, the more energy is needed. That's good old fashioned science. So it would be quite difficult to cause disease in another person. Most of us have ethics against doing such a thing, but even those who think its ok would generally find that the result is not worth the required effort.

I do not believe it is possible to cause such a degree of change on an entire community.

I believe magic has the ability to sway minds, but generally only in minor ways, the same way that an eloquent speaker or a sound argument can sway minds. That is to say magic can influence but it cannot force. It cannot remove free will.

Witchcraft can mean one of three things -- 1) magic, usually folk magic, and usually for healing purposes, 2) the Earth-centered religion of Wicca and "Traditional" Witchcraft or 3) something dark, spooky, and evil that you can accuse people you don't like of doing. The first two are OK to believe in, and can actually be benificial and good. But #3 is a dangerous belief, and one that can be used to justify all kinds of nasty violence.

I recommend getting to know some Wiccans, Pagans, and Magicians. We're not so bad. Nothing to be afraid of really. Mostly what we do is centered around the natural rythms and cycles of the year, connecting ourselfs with Nature and the Divine, helping others, and honoring our ancestors and the Gods. We're not out there putting spells on people, worshipping the Christian Devil, eating babies, or having sex with dead cats. All unfounded rumors, I tell you!

There are many Wiccan and Pagans here. And we do nothing. It is just a religion. You don't even have to use witchcraft to be considered Wiccan or Pagan. But yes, I do beleive in witchcraft, and if used improperly(or sometimes properly) it can cause trouble.

Witchcraft is very much there but it is not as strong as Bible or Koran. In Koran we have specific verses that counter witchcraft very effectively.

I would also like to include that witchcraft is all Satanic ought to loose after so much of efforts against a verse of Koran or Bible.

In the days of King Solomon (Prophet) it was a man who knew the Book brought the throne of Queen Sheeba to Solomon.

Witchcraft is no match to the Books of God.

Are you talking Fundamentalist Christians with their polyester leisure suits, or Fundamentalist Jews with their long sideburns, or Fundamentalist Pagans? Each group views it differently, though probably just as narrowly.

Im a baptist, and I believe in God, and yes I think witchcraft is real, but its through Satan, and sure it can mess with your head and really do stuff to people, but only the people who want to believe in witchcraft, it doesn't bother people who are christians or who trust in God. God's power over rules Satans

Yes, it can mess with your mind. I've had a lot of experience with witchcraft. From the side of having to defend myself, community, and others from it. It can, and does, take down people, places, and things. Just look in the Bible for examples. And you should not even be looking into these things. The more you look, the more you invite them to hook into you. And they only play for keeps. Their powers are real. Check out Mike Warnke's ministry. He can explain it all to you very well. He used to be one of their high priests.
