How can these "men" call themselves Muslims when they go against what the Quran states? From this, what do you think of what the religion says compared to what the actions are?
"In Islam there is absolutely no difference between men and women as far as their relationship to God is concerned, as both are promised the same reward for good conduct and the same punishment for evil conduct.
The Qur'an, in addressing the believers, often uses the expression, 'believing men and women' to emphasize the equality of men and women in regard to their respective duties, rights, virtues and merits. It says:
For Muslim men and women, for believing men and women, for devout men and women, for true men and women, for men and women who are patient and constant, for men and women who humble themselves, for men and women who give in charity, for men and women who fast, for men and women who guard their chastity, and for men and women who engage much in God's praise,

for them has God prepared forgiveness and great reward. (33:35)
The Prophet of Islam, peace be upon him, said, "Women are the twin halves of men". The Qur'an emphasizes the essential unity of men and women in a most beautiful simile:
They (your wives) are your garment and you are a garment for them. (2:187)
"Fear God regarding women. Verily you have married them with the trust of God, and made their bodies lawful with the word of God. You have got (rights) over them, and they have got (rights) over you in respect of their food and clothing according to your means."

A man who considers himself inherently superior to them. When it comes to gender equality, he confuses the language. There is gender equality in Islam.
In Islam, women are men's human, social, intellectual, and spiritual equals. Not superior. Not inferior. Equal. Women are equal with men, not the same as or identical with them. Just because men do not become pregnant, give birth, and go through the "time of the month" doesn't make them inherently superior to women. Biological differences has nothing to do with who's superior to whom.
Besides, if women didn't go through the "time of the month", there would be no men (and women). It's all a continuous, repetitive cycle.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I have to laugh at these Islam Bashers. Ok Islam teaches that man is a degree above women. So what? We would be fools to think we are equal. If we were why are men in more dominant positions. Its not like there are more men. We ARE more dominant. When there are wars who fights them? Have you ever heard of a fire woman? Dont get me wrong I dont believe men are better, but just have an advantage over woman as woman have an advantage over men when it comes to rearing children. I've never heard of a man nanny. Love it or hate it its the truth

What kind of Muslim man looks down to women?
All of them, isn't it?
Just to point out "... no difference between men and women as far as their relationship to God is concerned..." Means just that... in the eyes of God. Doesn't necessarily apply to people.
Also, I do believe that "'believing men and women" is used in the same context as "Ladies and Gentlemen" which is not done in a manner to imply either equality or inequality.
I'm all for equality and whatnot, but I'm afraid that the argument doesn't hold ground. Especially when muslims have a religious law dictating the conduct of women and the restriction imposed.
So to answer your original question, it's a Muslim man who follows the Ciabatta (actually, I think that's a bread... whatever Muslims call their religious law, I forget) either out of conviction or out of fear of being labelled an infidel.

Quran: a Reformist Translation talks a lot about the way that medieval religious scholars perverted Islamic teachings to oppress women.

I don't know, people will do what they want and believe want they want. people will find stuff that goes against what you said and say that their findings are more important. There are a lot of sexist things in the bible and than there are some things that lift women up. There is enough contradiction in all of these books that people will believe what they want. basically they are books that are there for you to do what you want and to justify it. You can justify anything in these books.
Don't give me thumbs down you know it's true. (Personas estupidos!)

Muslim men that follow the Koran and ahadith look down on women, just like Muhammad did. Allah says women are deficient, their opinion is worth half of a man's, men are maintainers of women, men can beat women (oh, and please don't say it says lightly...that's only added in the English versions of the Koran), imam telling people to hit their children that don't pray and their daughters who don't wear hijab, allowing men to have sex with the married women their right hands possess (that would be rape with your slave!), Muhammad saying if anyone should bow to another it would be wives to their husbands, Muhammad saying the majority in Hell are women, saying women void prayers, making women hide themselves since they are of the Devil and tempt men, etc, etc.
Should I go on? You know all these things I said are true, are found in Islamic "holy" books. No woman that truly loves herself and believes in a loving God could be a Muslim.

It is not an Islamic stance-it is cultural. And, in these cultures, the Qur'an has been corrupted.
