If you're talking about real love, then yes, it's unconditional.
Because if he suddenly stops 'loving' you after a comment someone else said, then he doesn't love you, and I don't think that he even likes you that much.

I think it's true, but there are limits to everything. For example, if someone accused you of being the town tramp I wouldn't pay any attention to that (preferring to make those types of evaluations for myself). On the other hand, if someone called you the town ax murderer...that would get my attention, because there's a lesser margin for error there. See?

True and unconditional love honors a person for the best of who they are. They do not point out, or allow other to point out, the gap between your "lesser self" and your "greatest potential." If you have found yourself with someone who is not honoring you in such a way, find your way out of the relationship. Ouch, I know, but truth be told, I'm preaching to myself right now too.
