Definittely 100% cannon! My friend had a kodak and she hates it, I tried it, and it was so annoying. It turned off at random times, was way too slow, and delayed quite a while after each picture, it was really annoying, and a nusance, trust me you will be much happier with canon, also heck out Nikon., Nikon is the best brand for cameras in my opinion, they work well, don't break and are very easy to use also. the nikon l4 I have is very easy to use, the only thing I would change is make sure you get one with more than 3x zoom if you want to take pcturs of animals, or birds.

According to Consumer Reports, which didn't rate these particular cameras, the Kodak EasyShare cameras are among the easiest to operate, the Canons less so. Both have good reliability records over time. You'll have to go to the Internet and compare their features. Two sites I used are http://www.digitalcamerareview.com/ and http://www.imaging-resource.com/. I have a Kodak EasyShare P712 that is probably quite similar to the Z712, and I'm very happy with it.
