Depends- if yo'ure talking the normal, dark brown eye crud that dogs get, theres nothing you can do but pick it out and don't let it accumulate. If you're talking some kind of abnormal discharge- she may need a vet for drops for an eye infection. Typical eye "boogers" will not make him go blind or harm him.
Eye infection will look like swelling, redness, crustiness, holding the affected eye closed or half-closed, or lots of greenish crud coming out of the corner of the eye. If untreated, an infection can lead to eye problems.

I wouldn't go rushing frantically to the vet but you might want to have him checked out to make sure there isn't any conjunctivities aspect. Usually it is just that the eyes get irritated by something and that could be environmental or even some dogs will have food allergies and this can precipitate 'eye boogers'. No, they won't blind your dog?? Who told you that?? They are like your eyes - it is just a mucoid production that occurs to help prevent irritation to the eye. If it has a coloration to it, like greenish or yellowish or something like that, then it couldbe indicative of a possible infection that would require intervention but mucous in the eye isn't going to blind the dog. It will 'self clean' to a certain degree as it will, like in humans, dry out and sort of crust up on the lid and eventually flake off. Some dogs have deep set eyes that tend to collect more mucous than others and so tend towards having more 'boogers' than others and to prevent a gunky looking eye, it is usually simply cleaned out. If the dog hasn't had this before and is all of the sudden having it occur, then it might indicate the irritation or allergy thing so getting him checked out by the vet is a good idea but it isn't something to go running the the emergency vet for, I wouldn't think. Good luck.

It will not make him go blind if it stays there.. his natural tears should help wash it away.
He should see a vet.. excess eye "goop" could be an eye infection/irritation, allergies or dry eye. The vet can determine what is the problem, and prescribe something for it.
The problem that could be causing the boogers could cause blindness, if not taken care of.. but not the boogers themselves.

You can't put anything in his eyes that is made for humans.
It sounds like he might have conjunctivitis and needs to get special medicated eye drops from the vet. Also, they will most likely use eye drops with steriods so they have to check and make sure the dog does not have a scratched cornea because the steriods can actually makes the dog's eye worse if it is used. The eye drops are not expensive so you really should take the dog. Make sure to clean his eyes with a warm, wet papertowel before putting the eye drops in that the vet gives you.

It wont blind him to have eye boogs but I would take him to the vet and see if there is an underlying problem. Depending on the breed some are more prone to eye problems.
Always your best bet to check with your Vet ♥

Reminds me of a cartoon I saw a few years ago. There were two dogs and one says to the other "What are humans good for?"
The other said "Who would clean the crud out of our eyes."
I just swipe their eyes with my thumbs and then go and wash my hands.

there are eyes wipes available at all petstores ( please dont go to walmart as their stuff is crap there and specially made by companies for walmart with harsh, ineffective, or useless ingredients) but, if this is a constant, it may be an eye infection and you will have to go to the vet. and like i always say its better to be safe than sorry, some eye infections in dogs without treatment will make the dog go blind.

Please do not use a comb, paper, or even your finger to wipe the eyes. All these things can scratch the cornea and be very painful. The best thing to use to wipe his eyes, are his ears (if long enough) or wipes made for that purpose! GL
