Im having a debate with someone at the moment. They say that Jesus only churches use the nameof Jesus to baptise, pray etc rather than all three (father son, holy spirit)

Is there any scriptural backing to explain why they may do this?

I'm a Christian and I can't say there is really any backing to that belief, but I don't just pray to Jesus; I pray to God and the Holy Spirit as well. I just don't end my prayers with in the name of the father the son and the holy ghost etc... Maybe I'm not in one of those Jesus' only churches though, but I usually end my prayer in Jeusus' name.

There are several scriptural reasons they do this. Isaiah 9:6, John 1:1,14, Col. 2:1:15, Col. 2:9-10, Titus 2:13, I Tim. 3:16, Micah 5:2, Matthew 1:23, John 10:30, John 14:8-11, Rev.21:6-7, Matt. 1:21, and Acts 4:12. I go to one of "these" churches. Please feel free to ask me anything! Basically, we are saying Jesus is God manifest in the flesh. Father-God in parental relationship to us.Holy ghost-God in activity as spirit. Son of God-(Humanity). As in a fleshly person, a physical son of Mary.

Well a Jesus only Church does not follow scripture. It is true that Jesus is the only way to achieve salvation we need to look at what he did say. Look into the NT scriptures and you will see that Jesus does say believe in me and the one that sent me. Every time Jesus spoke he was in the role of the servant. Ask the father in my name. He later told them the Father would send the comforter who would guide them. So if Jesus spoke of the Father and Comforter why would we say through Jesus alone? It was God who created, Jesus who redeems, and the Spirit who guides.

I think Jesus was quoted in the Bible as saying something like "The only way to the Father is through Me." I'm definitely not a Bible expert, but I'm pretty sure there is a statement like that.

Sometimes people will form a entire religious movement based on a single detail like that.

Maybe some people believe the simpliest way is the best.

Just my opinion.
