A kip up requires good snap and power in your legs as you kick them up and out at a 45 degree angle and at the same time push up and off with your hands behind your shoulders. You can gain momentum by first swinging your legs up with your knees bent to your shoulders and reach back with you hands as you start to throw your legs forward and up from the shoulders. You also have to arch your back and you can have someone spot you by crouching down next to you and helping to lift you under the small of the back as you kick up and out while arching your back. If you kick up to high you land on your shoulders and neck so use a mat; if you kick too low or dont arch your back you tend to land on your lower back. To develop the flexibitly for you to arch your back start doing some back bends against a wall. Once you get very good at a kip up you can then try to do it without using your arms and hands and only using your legs to kip up.
