1) Will he pay our bills?

2) Will he help us get better grades in school?

3) Look at all the ungodliness, injustice, disease, and BS in our world

4)Our society has no problem being shallow, ruthless, doing frivolous things, going to all the music concerts, and movies, yadda yadda, sex,

and at the end of the day, these people want to believe in God and worship God?

How's "God" going to take care of your medical bills, career interests, teach you common sense and other things about life?

Churches operate as business organizations as well.

Basically the way I see it, believing in God, especially in this day and age seems almost to be a setback, because it interferes with your abilities to adapt and get used to society, in order to survive.

Believing in God, may soften you, and teach you mantras which are out of sync with modern society therefore crippling you.

The people who preach God most, seem to be weird types. social crutch anyone!?!?

Please. Any advice?

I think it's totally assinine and pompous and utterly ridiculous, to get up, masturbate, eat breakfast/lunch, fix up your car, go to work, fib here and there, come home, you know, the typical life (for a guy), and then be like "oh god is all loving and all great."

Who do we think we're fooling?

I think if there was a God, he'd see all the hypocrisy and ridiculousness of it all, and laugh and purposefully condemn us all for being stupid.

I personally would LIKE to believe in a God, and do have higher morals/values, I'm an idealist, but the reality of it is that we live in a very complex BUSINESS oriented world, and that brainpower, ideas, motivation, etc, is what makes the world run, NOT god.

God isn't behind all that goes on in this world AT ALL, and the sooner we realize that the better off we'd be.

God seems to be a social crutch and paranoid thinking.

One thing that I have noticed is that God uses the most unlikely people to preach the gospel. We are weak but in Him we are strong. He that is in me is greater than he that is in the world. The world follows Satan and his evil, wicked ways, but Christians follow Jesus who gives the hope of eternal life.

God is our provision and paying our bills is no problem to the Lord. Changing the hearts and minds of people to favor us is no problem to God. With the Holy Spirit in us, He teaches us all things concerning Christ. He convicts us of our sins and He purifies and refines us. We are being made ready for eternal life. Life on earth is a tiny matter compared to life hereafter.

I hope never to adapt and get use to this society in which I live on this earth. Believing in God strengthens me and I am able to do all things because Christ strengthens me. My hope is eternal life with Christ.

"Basically the way I see it, believing in God, especially in this day and age seems almost to be a setback, because it interferes with your abilities to adapt and get used to society, in order to survive."

If you examine the question of "what should I do" from a purely objective, and rational standpoint then you should become what some have described as a "prudent predator" - this is indeed the mode that many of the more successful people in society seem to adhere to.

Society and most people you know expect you to adhere to some moral code. You should realize that to fit into society you need to superficially adhere to this code. However being intelligent and realizing that all there is to life is what you can get before death ends your biological existence, you should consider everyone and everything else in life to be "fair game," so to speak.

Being an outright criminal often is not the best way to maximize your life experience, but if you have the opportunity to lie, steal, or otherwise take advantage of a situation when it is obviously safe to do so, then that is what you should do. Conscience, like God, is a superstition for others who simply do not see things as rationally, and objectively as you do.

There is nothing wrong with a little hard work in this scenario. If you can earn a good life so much the better. If you have to "cut a few corners" and use other people then you really shouldn't be too squeamish. Whatever it takes, that should be your motto. You adapt the necessary "social camouflage" required for people to like and respect you, but basically people are of value to you for what they can do for you, or the pleasure they can give you. Of course you have to develop the ability to completely hide this side of yourself. Even going to church and pretending to be a believer might be a good tactic to hide your true self.

Enjoy. Take what you can. Life is short. Drink up.

If you take the above advice then let us know in a couple decades how it worked out for you. If it doesn't all work out for you then you might just keep the idea of God in the back of your mind somewhere. You might then be in a position to get a more convincing answer to your question.

No, there is no god. What would it even mean for there to be a god? The whole concept is utterly silly and nonsensical if you ask me.

Though, I find some of your comments quite strange:

"the reality of it is that we live in a very complex BUSINESS oriented world, and that brainpower, ideas, motivation, etc, is what makes the world run"

I'm assuming that you're American. Personally, I live in a world that has little to do with 'business'.

The world runs. It's people that make it, and they don't need brainpower, ideas or motivation. They just make the world run by being.

They may feel childish to you because you do not understand. Try doing some research and figure out what feels best for you. Find your own religious beliefs. They might travel away from Christianity. But do not knock someone else's religion or try to force yours's on others. Good luck.

God isnt here to pay your bills or give you a perfect life, He will help you in life and give you as many troubles as you can handle. Miracles happen when we need them, but it doesnt mean they will always happen.
It's not childish to believe, its like saying you cannot like something, its your own decision.
There are many people who claim to believing in God, but really dont-they might be trying to convince themselfs they do.
There are many wrong things with the world but
a) everything happens for a reason.
b)we learn from our mistakes and others'.

I dont know how you feel about God but know that trying to have a relationship with him will not hurt you in anyway, also if you are so confused with the world being near God might give you a new perpective. Religion isnt for everyone, and questions like these are enevitable, always.

I have just a couple of questions:

If the world really followed the commands to love the lord with all your heart, soul, and mind, and love thy neighbor as yourself, would it solve all the problems?

Secondly, i'd be glad to join you athiest people if you had something more than he offers for my life here and after this life, but looking at the situation realistically you're all just waiting for the earth to die along with yourselves within your sense of ABSOULUTE hopelessness aren't you.

Because after all you don't have a clue how you got here, and truly don't know where you're going after here, and personally i'll take my chances with God..

I'll just stick with what i've got unless you can come up with a better solution to the problem.

May God enlighten you.

" If i'm wrong what do I have loose, if your wrong what do you have to loose."

I agree with you 100%. Religion was a man made practice to scare people with the unknown. I believe in a power greater than myself, but I don't choose to call it "God" nor do I endorse or support organized religion. Believing that man needs religion in order to be "good" is just a crock of crap. Humans are just like any other animal, we have an instinct built into us to survive, and to further our spieces, which means we want to get along with each other for the most part.

The universe holds the power that we should believe in. The universe is all about giving back what we put out there. If we think positively, then positive things will happen. I believe Christians are the worst when it comes to shoving their beliefs down other's throats. Just watch how many will be angry at what I've said here. I'm sick of the Bible being used as proof of "God's" existence. MAN WROTE THE BIBLE. There is not one shred of evidence that God exists. Frankly, anyone who believes that one entity put this planet together in 6 days obviously believes in magic. How utterly dumb to even think that is true. I believe in a power greater than myself, NOT GOD, but my own understanding which gives me personal responsibility for my life and my beliefs. I know many athiests who are good people, religion is absent and they are better grounded than all of the so called christians I have known. I am so sick of how religion and politics have divided the world. Good job all you religious hypocrits.

Indeed, the God of Religion is not the God of Creation. The god of Religious teachings is not the God of eternal existence. So it depends on if you believe in a religious type god or the unified energy field that created the universe and gave life to it. God the creator is a part of each and every one of is. To not believe in God the creator is to not believe in yourself or that you truly exist.

Wow, well said. I agree with you, except for the "would like to believe in god part". I'd rather not believe in a deity that behaves the way the Christian god does in the bible. Though the Wiccan goddess is appealing as is the Goddess Athena.

Who says you have to belong to an organized religion to believe in God? I certainly don't care for them.
