I hold an extreme view that the word "extremist" is way over-used.

I have been thinking a lot about this over the past few days actually babe...
my mother and sister said I should be a politician.... eeek
but it made me wonder why they think so
I hate hate , I am intolerant of intolerance
and then I started thinking about peace activists..... the word activist made me realise that even in wishing peace , if it is something you are passionate about , you can take that to the extremes
in this sense , yes I am sure that to many I would be seen as some sort of extremist
and I am not sure how I feel about this yet

Well, I'm not sure what your definition of "extremist" is but:
I am a fully independent and free thinker. I believe totally in a woman's right to choose, freedom of speech, the right to assemble (unimpeded) and civil and equal rights for everyone.
I think that who one marrys or falls in love with is nobody's business. I think what happens between 2 consenting adults behind closed doors is nobody's business. Who one worships, how one worships, IF one worships is nobody's business....and I wish everyone would keep their beliefs to themselves...or their church, temple or home.
I was active in the Civil Rights movement of the 1960's, the Women's Movement, the Anti-war movement of the Vietnam War. I am currently active in the anti-Iraq war movement (small at it is...nobody cares to do anything, just gripe about it). I am working hard to get Hillary elected.
But, my most extreme view is the fact that Bush and Co. is the worst administration in our history and has done more damage to our country, our people, our economy, our relationship with the rest of the world than anyone ever has. I believe he and his cadre of thugs, liars and crooks should all be impeached and tried for high crimes and treason and should be imprisoned...
I am extreme in the belief that when "under God" was added to the Pledge of Allegiance, it changed us as a country. The Pledge went from a beautiful and patriotic ode to our country and flag to a ridiculous religious statement that automatically excluded a large majority of citizens.
I am extreme in the belief that religion has no place in the public arena - much less politics. Religion is a private and personal matter that has no place in government.
I am extreme in the belief that too many Americans are willing to accept any crapola thrown at them - and do it without a whimper.... All they do is complain.

Yes. I have an extreme aversion to so-called 'Chavs'.
I wish to round them up and put them all to work on a massive organic farm the size of Norfolk. No booze allowed on site or in their sleeping quarters. No mating allowed either. (zomg! the thought of it...)
They can spend their retirements at a purpose built 10-mile wide site near Blackpool, called 'Chavadise Island (sponsored by White Lightning Beverage Purveyors of Distinction)'.
They will be entitled to free (fake) Burberry slippers and free 'boob inspector' or 'lager can and drinking tube ' baseball hats every year for Christmas. And of course, their Jim Davidson DVD.
But that's all. Even I feel that's a bit extreme.

If I felt my views were extremist, I probably wouldn't hold them. But other people might see them differently since they're not in my head. For example, I think Christians tend to see the fact that I'm an atheist as an extremist view.

My belief that at the macro scale this universe is a deterministic one and that free will is a crock of shite seems to shock some. I guess it is rather extreme, although some people seem to think that it would mean random slaughter, rape and stealing or something.
