It has been said that mexican chocolate has an excellent quality, and that is a 100% mexican product, that the conquistadors took it to Europe. NOTE: Aztecs and Mayans (a good part of them) were in MEXICO, therefore, the chocolate comes from MEXICO. The New World is the whole american continent, Mesoamerica, where the aztecs, mayans, etc were from, started in Central Mexico and ended in Honduras.

Huh? Chocolate discorved in the "New World - Aztecs and Mayans" and was brought back to Europe, but that was not Mexico.

So I'd say no... Mexican chocolate is not the best. Aztec and Mayan chocolate is the best, but very hard to find since those cultures are pretty much extinct.

In our modern times, chocolates from Belgium is supposedly the best.

The title of "Best" ANYTHING is so personal that no one can really say if it is or if it isn't.

Personally, I am addicted to this specific and VERY expensive Swiss brand that my aunt would bring back when she was over seas but then again I know people that have tried it and told me that they think that a good Hershey's Kiss beats the sea shell shaped Swiss stuff hands down...

The South American's have had hundreds and hundreds of years more practice making stuff out of the Chocolate Beans then anyone else on earth but that isn't a guarantee of quality.

Tastes are so different around the world...

One culture's delicacy is another's trash...

Look at sushi... Raw fish... I LOVE IT, the Japanese LOVE IT, yet I know many people that get ill just thinking about eating it... Or Coo-ie in Ecuador... Guinea Pig spit roasted over an open fire… (Watch Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimm-something on Travel Channel. DAMN GOOD SHOW)

Would you eat a Spit Roasted Guinea Pig? Because here you can buy them at a pet store for $5.00 if you tell them they are for the feeding of a snake but in Ecuador (at a restaurant) you can pay upwards of $30.00+ for one!

Roasted Guinea Pig is THEIR “Best”.

No one thing is the “Best” of ANYTHING…

Putting the label of “Best” on something is just a way to boost cultural pride or self-esteem… But it has no real meaning outside of a single group of people.

Yes Mexican chocolate is the best when it comes to quality. But is also very expensive. They usually come packaged in waxed paper and are round with groves in it for separating. heres a picture actually http://gourmetsleuth.com/images/chocdisk.jpg
