I have occassional heart palpatations that the docs have said is normal and I've been wanting to start exercising, but I can't get over the fact that I think something will happen to my heart. Everytime I start I have to stop because I think something bad is happening. Is there a way to tell if I'm healthy enough to exercise without going to the doctor, or does anyone have a tip to get over my fear?

Start exercising slowly an gradually. Walk 3-5 a week, increasing your pace as you feel more comfortable.
If your docs say you can exercise, then you should proceed. Usually it is people who have very severe cardiovascular conditions or who are recovering from heart attacks/heart disease that are advised not to exercise for fear of overloading their hearts.

The longer you put off exercising, the weaker your heart will become. So start now! Best of luck.

you need to start walking ASAP. start out with 20-30 minute slow walks. then as your endurance builds shoot for 1 hr straight. once you can walk for an hour easily then it's time to turn of the intensity a little by picking up the pace.
