I only ask because I'm tired of people saying "evolution is just a theory", without substantiating what makes creation a more credible answer.
Real answers please.

I want to clear up, by real answers, I mean not "a joke".
I want real substantial arguments about what creation should be classified as.
I note a distinct lack of christian answers here.

Oh, and evolution IS provable.

Martin S, I see a lot of waffle, but little explanation of why creationism is better than a theory.
I also see you using discredited work, and the non-scientific, much spouted macro-evolution claim.
Didn't ID have its day in court? Did it win?

Keak, I'm hoping you meant your answer equally between evolution and creation. It's hard to make out from your syntax.
If your argument is applied both ways, it's a good way to look at things.

If the omnipitent being is so good, why do we have genetic defects in his model?

Evolution is a scientific theory, which involves a hypothesis worked on by many scientists.

I personally can't believe that however million people can believe something that's a philosophical theory and a book that was written 1600 years after the events happened.

Does anybody actually BELIEVE that Jesus turned water into wine?
No scientist I've met has denied that Jesus existed. No scientist I've met can believe that a man can turn water into wine using no grapes/wine fruits.

My grandad used to tell me that his grandad told me that apples are just pears that didn't develop properly. I never believed this, and neither did he. But that concept seems to be the foundations on which the Bible was written.

The fact that there's bones, and dare I say creatures like Lucy almost prove in itself that humans came from somewhere.

Can I ask that lovely person who asked why Monkeys exist whether they have actually READ the theory of evolution? Seen any evidence that says the whole species dies out?

No, they become extinct - as in the species dies out if there's NO WAY IT CAN SURVIVE IN CHANGING CLIMATE, not if there's a more advanced model out. Think of it like the VCR - if scart leads were no more, then it wouldn't work. But they still work because they fit in the television.

THERE'S NO SCIENCE BEHIND CREATIONISM! It's just a lovely theory that aids the religions who believe in it to have a conception that slavery (as I personally believe following religion to a tee is) will help you reap rewards. Please, get real.

By all means believe that God exists, but why are so many people converting to atheism when they've grown up? Could it be because there's so much evidence to the contrary? Could it be that many people are now saying "God" is probably just the human mind?

To start you must understand what a theory is in scientific terms:
In science, a theory is a mathematical or logical explanation, or a testable model of the manner of interaction of a set of natural phenomena, capable of predicting future occurrences or observations of the same kind, and capable of being tested through experiment or otherwise falsified through empirical observation. It follows from this that for scientists "theory" and "fact" do not necessarily stand in opposition.

Based on that explanation of a theory, the story of creation is merely a myth, a parable, not really any different than the ancient writings of Greek and Roman mythology.

Is it even science? I mean, can a valid theory be constructed around a god hypothesis? It's a creation myth, and usually those are studied under theology. It's not developed from observation... it predicts nothing...

I'd say it's not a theory in the scientific sense. And since the only sciences that examine stuff like creation are basically theology and psychology....

So, it's either a creation myth (theology)
Or, it's a delusion (psychology)

Take your pick :)

I think that if anything should be classed as a theory it should be creation. Evolution has been proven (as far as I know) and I find that more believable than some supreme being creating everything.

Evolution is, and always will be, a theory.
Creationism is, and always will be, a belief.

Scientists understand that a theory is not a proven fact.

Believers get confused between belief and truth. They convince themselves that by iteration, that a belief becomes a truth.

Tales of creation from most scriptures are unbelievable.
Apart from the far out theories, most are based on the Hindu view, which will eventually be declared as based on science.
Science has a lot of 'discovering' to do as yet.
Before train were common it was declared by qualified doctors that travel faster than 30 mph would kill people. The speed at which air flowed into human lungs was about 30 mph. Thus they concluded that the air would be sucked out of the travelers lungs at speeds over 30 mph.

That's scientific reasoning for you.
Science is not everything.

Those who say "it's just a theory" clearly do not understand what a scientific theory is. A scientific theory is not synonymous with "I have a theory about what the neighbor lady has buried underneath her rose bushes."
