I have done lab tests and my nutritionist told me my TSH is 6.1 , which is unusual... he said he is going to do another 2 tests... FT3 - FT4 tests and thyroid antibodies test.... does any body have any idea how does TSH can effect over weight ?

FT3-FT4 tests are directly measuring the thyroid hormone levels. Thyroid hormone is important because it affects the metabolism of your body. Too much thyroid hormone causes hyperactivity, weight loss, sweating, tremors, etc. Too little thyroid hormone causes weight gain, fatigue, cold intolerance, apathy, etc.

TSH is a thyroid stimulating hormone, so it is measuring your thyroid function indirectly. If your TSH is high, that means your actual thyroid hormone levels are too low. If your TSH is low, it means that your actual thyroid hormone levels are too high.

In your case, the TSH is high, so you have too little thyroid hormone, which is why your body's metabolism is slowed down. Your symptoms are classic for hypothyroidism. A thyroid replacement pill taken once a day can correct the problem. It is available as a generic medicine and is relatively inexpensive. Don't feel too upset or discouraged. This is an extremely common problem. Good luck!

First of all, you should have asked him to explain that while you were there.

TSH is a thyroid level and if you have too much or too little, it affects your weight. So, if he runs more tests and confirms that your thyroid is out of wack (many women have this especially having children) then you can get something to correct it.

high levels of thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) are signs of an under active thyroid. basically the body is releasing more than average amounts in an attempt to get the thyroid to function normally. the FT3/4 test are to measure the amounts of free T3 and free T4.
