I don't know if there's anything that you can drink to keep it from burning on the way down. but as far as keeping your stomach feeling good, and keeping it from coming back up too quickly. I'd recommend that you eat a bagel or two. People say to eat something greasy, that's for when you're hung over, not for before you drink, and anyways, it always ends up making me feel sicker. breads are good, the heavier the better (bagels) because they help to absorb the alcohol. Also, take a couple of tums half an hour before you begin drinking, and another one when you're finished. I take it you're drinking shots, since you say it burns. Make sure you drink plenty of water, and take a multivitamin and you should feel fine in the morning too, and if by some chance you are hung over GATOR AID... the hangover cure, guaranteed.

If you can't handle a drink then don't drink. You need to be responsible for your drinking and not try to figure out what will protect you so you can drink. The answer to your question is there is nothing that can help you because anything you drink before hand will only get washed away. But if you really must try something then cough syrup, it will numb your throat a little bit. Milk is good after you have a drink.

That is a myth.
http://www.tshc.fsu.edu/par/students/myths.htm
MYTH 5: Coating your stomach with a greasy or milky solution will slow the absorption of alcohol and keep a person from getting drunk or sick.
FACT: The stomach cannot be "coated" to prevent alcohol absorption. However, individuals are encouraged to eat foods rich in carbohydrates and proteins before consuming alcohol. This slow-digesting food reduces the amount of alcohol that is absorbed directly into the blood stream through the mucous membrane lining of the stomach. Food also slows the rate of the stomach emptying into the small intestine, where absorption of alcohol occurs at a much faster rate.
Just eat a mexican meal. Nothing you drink is going to "coat your stomach" it just doesn't work like that. But an amount of food in your stomach will help absorb it.

Don't drink on an empty stomach so make sure you eat and I'd drink milk to coat your stomach.
You didn't say what you drink but I like White Russians. They're made with milk or cream, Kahlua and vodka. A black Russian is similar but there's one more ingredient than a White Russian. It might be coke but I'm not positive.
Oh, and don't drive!

A shot of whiskey. Seriously, the burn will dissipate as you drink more alcohol so you may as well man-up now and be done with it.
I advise against mixing alcohol with pepto or any dairy products. The last thing you want is curdled cottage cheese sitting in the pit of your tummy when you are out having fun with friends.
The best thing to do is to eat something before a night of drinking.

If drinking is that much of a problem why bother. People will not know if your drink has alcohol in it or not. You will have more fun (no pain) You will not have to spend tomorrow worrying at what you did tonight and you will be MUCH safer driving home and no Headache in the morning and you can spend time at the party laughing AT the drunks and that's what they do . A drunk is not funny people are usually laughing at his stupidity.
Try it .... I think you will like it

Well I think certain drinks will always burn going down, so maybe stay away from those. Drink beer or mixed drinks.

I get the same problem so i usually eat pasta with a creamy sauce.
I also stay away from grape based drinks if i've got acid indigestion and always carry a pocket sized packet of Rennies.

Hmm, eating something usually helps, but I thought the burn usually happens in the esophageal canal, not the stomach?
