Hendrick and Gibbs were the early frontrunners but Roush/Fenway came on strong with their COT program towards the end of the the 2007 season. I think those 3 will start off as the early favorites and it will tighten up as the season progresses.

Hendrick didn't dominate because of the COT they were the best team regardless of which body they were running!
Two very logical answers to this questin that aren't being listed by most people!
1. Small teams! Haas 66/70 looked very good in a bunch of COT races now they get to work with it every week. (I'm not putting them in the chase or anything but if they can get into the top 20 for a small team that is huge!)
2. All Toyota teams- remember they were trying to develop 3 types of cars last year as a new manufacturer! Now they get to focus and use all their resources in developing the COT cars! Look for Gibbs to turn around Toyota's engine program very quickly!
For the record! 3 Gibbs cars in the Chase and one of those guys will win in the first 10 races!

Hendrick Motorsports. Hendrick won most of the COT races this season, but it is often overlooked that Joe Gibbs Racing led most of the laps in those races. Tony Stewart and Denny Hamlin led an awful lot of laps.
However JGR is switching over to Toyota for this seaon which I think will set back thier COT development a bit. But its a long season and Id be suprised if the JGR guys didnt dial in before the chase.

Hendrick Team so far did well with the COT part of this year so they going to do even alot better driving COT in 2008. Don't be surprise if they win other championship in 2008.

The teams that were good with the COT at the end of the year, Hendrick and Roush. Plus whoever works the hardest in the off season.

Hendrick they ran strong all year long and capitalized on several Gibbs mistakes and bad luck. Roush came on strong late and could challenge them. Gibbs ran just as good if not better than Hendrick early on only to have repeated bad luck however I think the change toToyota will take them out of this.

Hendrick Motorsports definitely has the leg up on the other teams in the sport. Roush Racing is catching up though.
