Since the dead “are conscious of nothing at all,” communication with such dead persons is actually impossible. (Ec 9:5) God’s law to Israel forbade anyone’s inquiring of the dead and made the practice of spiritism a capital offense. (Le 19:31; 20:6, 27; De 18:9-12; compare Isa 8:19.) And in the Christian Greek Scriptures the statement is made that those who practice spiritism “will not inherit God’s kingdom.” (Ga 5:20, 21; Re 21:8) It, therefore, logically follows that any claimed communication with dead persons, if not a deliberate lie on the part of the claimant, must be from an evil source, a source that stands in opposition to Jehovah God.
Accurate knowledge of the Bible would have spared these unsuspecting people from being swindled. It makes clear that the soul is not immortal. (Ezekiel 18:4) The dead “are conscious of nothing at all,” says Ecclesiastes 9:5. So the dead cannot harm the living. Neither can the living benefit the dead.
Death means a state of total inactivity. The dead “are conscious of nothing at all, . . .

there are 3 different names to call people that can see the dead. 1. Necromancers 2. Psychic 3. Mediums. Although psychics and mediums are somewhat the same but they both have different ways to communicate with the dead. Mediums are most likely to see them ans speak with them. If i were you i wouldn t search more of these dead/spirits, even if u see it on TV or search it through the computer, they can smell your curiousity and you might accidentally open a portal. just a quick warning.

Necromancy is the act of summoning the spirits of the dead for the purpose of protection and or guidance from beyond the grave.
a Necromancer is one who practices this.
This would be the correct title.
however---
The christians decided early on that this was a form of Witch craft. The Catholic church rated it an offence worthy of death because according to christian doctrine ,man is appointed once to die and then the judgement ,so attempts to raise the spirits of the dead are against the will of God.
So as time passed the word became associated with the summoning of demons and condemmed spirits.
because of this. those who claim to have the ability to do so call themselves Mediums and spiritualists.
One popular lady calls herself The counsler to the Dead.

Mediums.
They "mediate" between the living and the dead.
Ignoring the obviously wrong answers. There are others that might sound right, but they mean something different. For example a Channeler does that: (s)he "channels" a spirit, (s)he does not really speak to them, but helps the spirits communicat "through" him/her. A Necromancer "summons" spirits. Anyway the correct term is Medium.

A major feature of spiritism is claimed communication with the dead.
The dead “are conscious of nothing at all, . . . for there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in Sheol [the grave].” This means that the dead cannot be helped by religious or spiritistic efforts or by human scientific means.—Eccl. 9:5, 6, 10.
Spirit Manifestations
But what about the spirit manifestations that are associated with the dead? The Bible explains that spirit creatures were produced before the material universe was created. Some of these angels, including Satan, rebelled against God. They are the ones who impersonate the dead, and this is done to support Satan’s first lie, that man ‘positively would not die’ if he rebelled against God.—Gen. 3:4; John 8:44; Jude 6.
Thus, the consulting of the dead, funeral rites for appeasing or paying homage to them, prayers for them, and all spiritistic practices are based on a deception, a lie. Money paid for such services does not bring God’s favor, nor does it influence the dead. Instead, it plays right into the demons’ hands. That is why God forbids participation in these practices.—Deut. 18:10-12; Isa. 8:19.
Understanding and acting in harmony with the truth about death liberates one from fear and futile practices. It also puts one in position to appreciate and benefit from our Creator’s purpose to provide a real conquest over death.

Really it just depends, mediums are people who can communicate with the dead, they don't choose to be this way, the dead choose them, people who summon the dead, well call them what you will, I'm sure you've seen supernatural lol, people who THINK they can communicate with the dead or see or hear things that aren't there (but to them, it's there) are schizophrenic, schizophrenia is an imbalance of the brain that causes the most realistic hallucinations.
I'm aware that it's 9 years later but I had to put my 2 cents in because I was diagnosed with schizophrenia and ignored everything until I found out that when my mom was younger she played with an a Ouija Board and weird **** started happening a few days after and never stopped, and then one day I thought I was having an episode until one of my friends saw it too and nobody else could. We're not crazy, just chosen by a series of unfortunate events.

I think many of them assume the name of "psychic" or "medium", but I always wondered about the term necromancer.
