I've heard men like confident women, but I've seen a couple of cases that seem to prove this false. There is this girl I work with, who has no self-esteem whatsoever (constantly puts herself down), but she's nice-looking, so guys flock to her. And then, there's this other girl, who's considered quite homely to most people, who's very confident...and people ridicule her, saying she has nothing to be conident about. So, do men really like confident women, or is this just another lie just like the whole "looks don't matter" thing?

If you want sex you look at the outer beauty. If you look for someone with heart and brains then you by pass the beauty. Most of the time people just want a great night and move on.

It's more about attitude, rather than confidence. Intelligence and personality are good, but most guys will get bored with a girl who is too impressed with themselves, or take themselves too seriously. A little honest humility goes a long way.
It's not that much different than how women look at guys. Compatibility is the key ingredient. Men may be a little more visual and shallow, at least initially, but as a relationship develops, if it's going to be successful, both sexes are looking for basically the same things.

Yes, men like confident women. If this girl you work with has low self-esteem issues and is good looking then these guys know this and know they can take advantage of her and just want sex out of her. It sounds like the guys you work with are jerks!! Men who are looking for a relationship want a confident woman. The same qualities women look for in a guy is the same that a guy looks for in a woman. I think looks can only go so far just like personality can only go so far. It's a balance thing. Remember not all guys are like the ones you work with or are the same in the world. People are different in different states and countries and how they are raised to view things by their fathers or mothers. If you are looking for someone in your life then you should remember that and not loose hope. Good Luck!!

It depends on the man.
Some men need a woman who lacks confidence so they can manipulate the relationship and have a very unhealthy co-dependent thing going on. It makes them feel better, as they typically have a low confidence level themselves.
Others recognize confidence as a plus and it complements their own since of self worth and value. This is more of a healthy relationship.

Women who are very attractive but lack self confidence may very attract some guys because of her looks and not her personality. The Homely girl may say that she's confident but her appearance may be saying a total different thing, her lips say I've got good self esteem and body language and body image says NOT CONFIDENT. Women who have good self esteem and exude confidence usually take the time and effort to present a self image that looks good.

Hello.
I have to say that It's the same for girls and guys. If you have the chance to go out with a great looking guy but then when you get to know him he is a total rack, where he has a very low self esteem, for me its a total turn off. The same for guys after they get to know them and they get tired. Now there is a catch I know those kind of girls your talking about and I know they can act pretty confident in front of that guy they like. But there is those guys who rather have them all dumb so they could do whatever and get away with it, so just keep all those things in mind. I have lots of guy friends.

I think confidence should be in the middle somewhere. If you're too confident, men will think you're stuck up. If you're not confident at all, you'll never get anywhere with anyone.

some men like a confident women because they know what they are worth and wont take s**t from anyone and they are strong. but some men like self-conscious women because they know they can tell them anything and will be contend. somemen like to be controlling in a relationship and thrive on having someone they know wont fight back. but that is moslty weak men that want to feel strong. for a strong man, a real man they want a women that is strong and smart. so in the end it depends on the man and how strong mentally they are
