Meditation, can help. But one should exercise too, mind-body type if you can. Eating healthy and not overindulging will also help. Work really hard and don't let the struggle or hardship of life deter you. Life is rough, one has to earn things. But if one overcomes a lot of obstacles, and endures, an awful lot is possible. You can meditate many ways. The main thing is to focus on breathing deeply, and you can tense your stomach muscle when breathing in, to increase the intensity. Also if you get really good at it, you may need to move your feet very slowly to keep them from losing circulation. You can do it lying down or sitting, what ever is comfortable. You can focus on overpowering negative emotions, or on the vision of what you want to become real. Anything you focus on, will become a more relaxed and a stronger part of you. Emotions will become more positive, when you are more relaxed with them.
