YES, You can get chicken pox more than once.
And also, you CAN get chicken pox from someone who has a current outbreak of SHINGLES, as they can give you Varicella Zoster Virus from it.
There is ALOT of misinformation on the internet......but, YES....he is contagious until his pox scab over. He was actually contagious BEFORE you even realized he had it...incubation time is up to 2 weeks, although most do not take the whole 2 weeks.
Take care of yourself, any immuno-compromised people (make them stay AWAY from the house/contact with you--this includes any one on steroids for asthma/copd/and cancer patients), use lysol spray on acceptable surfaces, don't share hand towels, or cups. Good luck to you all.

Chicken pox is caused by a virus. It is possible to contract the virus multiple times, but after the first exposure it is no longer known as 'chicken pox' but is called shingles. Shingles are more common in the elderly just as chicken pox is more common in young children, the two groups who have lower immunities.

Its usually not likely you'll get it again. Maybe if you only had a mild case of it as a child then theres a chance, but if you had a regular dose of chicken pox you shouldnt get it again.

yes you can catch chickenpox more than once. you get it through direct contact with the person. do not touch the spots directly and try to limit direct contact with your son as much as possible - if he wants a cuddle, wrap him in a blanket as a barrier first.

I heard that you can get it again as an adult but in a mutated form, (German Measles, maybe). But don't quote me on this.
