I got my one tooth pulled on my right side of the mouth. I am wondering if I can eat solid food right away, or if I should take it easy for a few days? I do know not to smoke for four hours, (I don't smoke anyways) and no mouth wash for 24 hours and so forth. I am taking pain med. for it.

This was by the worse tooth, I got pulled so far. I had two others pulled without a problem, but I had an infection in this tooth and was on medicine, but it still wasn't cleared up when he pulled it, OUCH!

But any tips, I would really appreciate it!

First, do not drink with a straw. It can cause dry socket. Trust me...I had it...and it was painful! Do not eat solid food right away. It can get stuck in the place where the tooth was extracted and cause bacteria to grow. If you are hungry, then try jello or cool soup broth. The dentist will tell you what to eat and when you can eat solid food. Following your doctors instructions.

soft foods are fine. the main thing to avoid are straws. the sucking required can open up the area and make you lose the blood clot that forms in the cavity where your tooth was.

there is no restrictions as to what to eat. Eat what ever is cooked at home but see to that it is cold, after eating use cold water gargle to remove food stuck in the socket.

I like soft foods like pasta, until you feel like you can return to your normal diet. It all depends on how bad the infection, etc. was and how quickly everything is healing.
