There are some really beautiful places in Yorkshire and The Lake District is beautiful too. There are some really beautiful places in Scotland too.....Loch Lomond, was a place we went to a lot but I expect it has changed since I was last there in the 70's.....nowhere stays the same does it lol.
The Isle of Skye is very beautiful and I remember going there on holiday in the 70's. It's a place I would like to go back to with my hubby.....maybe one day hm!

Northumberland has to rank pretty highly I would think ... fantastic coastline with white sandy beaches where you can feel as though you are the only person there .. which is often the case, because it can be a bit raw ! It is the least densely populated county in England, so if you want wild and (mostly) unspoilt countryside south of the Scottish border, this is it. Also, it is a step away from Scotland which is also unbelievably beautiful

without doubt, its gotta be the brecons or the broads, it all depends on what pleases your eye.
i have been off roading in the welsh countryside and in the mountains it is still untamed scenery.
that is what gives me pleasure,to be able to drive for two days in forests and mountains and not see another soul.
on the other hand i went fishing on the norfolk broads and lost myself on the riverbanks where it was so quiet you could hear the insects buzzing and the fish rolling in the water.
that too was a good experience, just sitting alone in the quiet and unreserved beauty of the broads.
i also lived up in scotland for a few years and i had the delight of waking up on xmas morning to find 12" of snow had fell, we lived miles from anywhere and i had the feeling that the snow was all for me, so as i say, it depends on your interpretation of beauty. ;)

I'd say Pembrokshire in South Wales. The castles and beaches are the most beautiful I've ever seen, petty it's so cold though!

The Lake District in Cumbria is very nice also north west Scotland.
Tha City of Durham is agreeable (lots of restraunts and bars) as is the Western side of County Durham, where you will find High Force, the biggest water fall in Britain, you will also find Teesdale and Weardale and eventually travelling west you will come to the Pennines.
