I am planning on installing Vista 64bit on my new `puter.It has an AMD dual core 6000+/ASUS mainboard...Right now I am running XP Pro,but my memory is limited to 3GB in a 32bit system. (can goto 8GB) Wanting to install 64bit system to take full advantage of features....Just curious if I will be able to use some of the programs that I have paid for...

Yes, you can run 32 bit programs on a 64 bit os.

Its a paradox, 64bit can sure access more memory, but unless your apps are true 64bits, it doesnt gain anything much, some may run even slower, as for games, dont think you wil get very far at all.

If you simply wants to run more programs at the same time, I would advice staying with XP/3GB and get a faster Raptor drive.

Vista is troublesome, Vista 64bit is asking for more.

i asked a similar question..
one guy told me that vista could run 32 bit as well as 64 bit software..
(vista is a 64 bit system according to the answers i got..)
