I am looking to break into the sci-fi/fantasy book cover world, plus computer games (covers and concept designs) as well as album art work and comic book covers. I want the best program to take my pencil drawings and render them into full color illusrtations digitally. I have windows XP, is adobe paint a good choice, or is there something better??? The operating system that you are using will work just fine, there is no need to upgrade to a newer version.

For a graphics editor and painting program, I would suggest Adobe Photoshop. It is expensive and it has a pretty steep learning curve. I would suggest that anyone wanting to use a high end graphics editor like Photoshop, take a coarse on the subject. Most community colleges cover this program.

Adobe Photoshop is a great program and is used by almost everyone in the graphic design industry.

Also, you can look at Anime Studio if you want to turn your illustrations into animations.
