What are the chances that it will pass on its own? Is there anything we can do now?

We actually had vet appointment this morning. (He swallowed the rawhide about 40 minutes before it.) We didn't get to see a vet, but the vet tech said that it should pass. She was kind of vague though... So, yes, we've gone to the vet.

It will pass.. The rawhide will soften. If you're worried, the vet can give your pup some barium and an x-ray will show the progress of the thing through the digestive tract. I wouldn't worry, though, just keep an eye on your dog for a while.

You should never give a dog rawhide bones, chews or anything. This is dangerous and can block their intestinal tract. You need to get the pup to a Vet asap. The Vet can determine if the pup will be in distress or not.

I don't know how easy rawhide would be for a puppy to digest and it sounds like he's swallowed a fair size piece. I would give your vet's office a call and get their advice.

No need to worry it will pass. You should make an effort though to keep things puppies will chew on out of their reach. You may also give your corgi plenty of water to insure that the rawhide will digest.

I would be very careful about this. My advice would be to take it to a vet asap. I have worked at one for about 10 years, and ever few months we get a case like yours come in, and sometimes they don't make it through. It can really tear up their digestive tract and cause a lot of future problems if you don't deal with it now. Good luck!
