Depends on your state statutes. In Oklahoma, carrying a concelaed firearms without a permit is only a ticketable misdemeanor. And to the ridiculous answer about guns killing innocent people, so do steak knives and baseball bats. More people are killed by automobiles in one hour than annual buy guns. If guns are so bad, you need to check out the violent crime rate trends in countries that have banned guns. I for one choose NOT to be a victim.

You absolutely DO need to hire an attorney. Don't rely on a court appointed one - you WILL get shafted.

When you are arrested, you are informed of the charges brought against you. You will have to face the court to answer for the charges. This initial hearing is vital to the outcome of your case. You do not want to go alone without an attorney to represent you.

If you already have prior convictions, you will not make out too well in court. You could be charged with a felony, and end up doing some prison time. If no priors, it is in your favor. If this charge of carrying a concealed weapon is a felony, chances are it could be plea bargained down to a misdemeanor. Believe me, you do not want a felony conviction on your record. A misdemeanor is not as bad. It's still bad, but not as bad a felony .

Get an attorney right away, and be on the up and up with him/her, and trust them. They will work for your good, not the court's. The court has the prosecutor who is the person that is working against you, not your attorney.

Get a good lawyer and fight both charges , you do not want a felony on your record where you can never carry a firearm again..., if you been charged already it doesnt matter, because you still have to fight it . What state you are in makes a big difference too.

No. Especially if it's not loaded. This is how bank robbers sometimes get off. In my line of work, I needed to have my steel handy, and as you might guess, I was always being harassed by the cops. I got around the charges by simply keeping the clips in my full length Lynx camel hair coat.

i would think that depends on city and state law and under
what circumstances the concealed weapon was found.
if you did not use the firearm, how can you be charged
with that crime? consult a good criminal attorney.

Probably now but if Ron Paul wins there will be no more stupid laws preventing citizens from having there right to bear arms in any form.

Yes. No offense but guns kill innocent people. Guns kill innocent little children and babies. Guns can also kill your parents, siblings, and your best friends, your wife, girlfriend, and your pet. Your enemy will be more miserable if you let him/her live a long life than to kill.
