I have noticed that a lot of people have cut dairy products like milk etc from their diet and have said they felt better and had advantages health results. If I did the same, what results could I possibly expect (better Skin/Hair/Digestion/Etc??).

I eat meat and have a reasonably healthy balanced diet, plus I have a healthy fit body with no medicals conditions or take any medications.

What dariy foodstuffs should I stop taking and what else can I use as replacements in order to be sure I get enough Calcium, etc from my diet.

Thank you!

I didn't do it so much for personal health, but I thought it was the socially responsible thing to do. I didn't become more diligent in getting enough calcium until my pregnancy. When I did fully eliminate dairy, including eggs, i unintentionally lost five pounds. I was also very active with yoga and walking two or more miles a day. I'm not going to really go into why I did it as I'm not a preachy person; I just peacefully live my life and will explain personal philosophies, beliefs, morals, etc., if asked or it just easily comes up in conversation. However, I did do it for animals rights and the environment.

Personally, to make sure I get calcium from soy milk (vanilla and chocolate; I like the chocolate for my chocolate fix), tofu (I really like it stir fried in some olive oil and a mix of soy and sweet and sour sauces or bar-be-que sauce), spinach and broccoli and fortified orange juice. (Ordinarily I prefer the whole fruit to the juice.) Also, some things, like cereal are fortified, but I stick with cereal that is free of corn syrup, high fructose corn syrup, partially or fully hydrogenated oils, and artificial colors and flavors. (That's the list of stuff I avoid in any foods.)

For some good information, do a search for "vegan calcium sources". I just looked six pages in from my Yahoo! Search and I still found some sites that looked good. I don't usually go past the first page because it either gets repetitive in the sites, but with different pages, it seems, or the relevancy decreaces. One site that's a few pages in but I like is the Physician's Committee for Responsible Medicine. Also, http://www.chooseveg.com is another good one. I also didn't see http:www.vegsource.com which is more family oriented, but still good.

VegWeb, http://vegweb.com is also good for recipes.

I didn't see Vegan Society on the results, but that doesn't mean it wasn't there. http://vegansociety.com

Also, if you go to Veggie Boards, http://veggieboards.com you'll get information, advice and help from other veg*ns (some of whom are more knowlegeable than I) without the dribble that can be found on the Vegetarian and Vegan section here on Answers. (I have two other forums, The Vegan Forum and Vegan Represent bookmarked, but I haven't really looked at them.0

Anyway, I hope this has been of some help. I did find some new sites I want to look at the some time.

I use Lloyds own brand Calcium & Vitamin D twice a day tablets. I too don't have milk in drinks anymore or on cereals etc. so I started the supplements a few weeks ago. I seem to have more energy lately, then again I carry a couple of chrystals and wear a magnetic bracelet, not sure if it helps but worth a try.

Good Luck!

You dont need to stop any food type. But if you are allergic you may. Dairy is just a bit difficult to digest for those with intollerance. If you are overweight, reduce cheese intake.

these people only feel better because they have an intollerance or are allergic - you dont need to remove milk etc., from yur diet - i have to as i am intolerant - i take calcium intermittently and eat bread which has calcium in -
