Everyone still has a work day as normal, but there are Christmas trees up and Christmas decorations in some businesses and outdoors. There is also a Christmas section in most department stores selling decorations and gifts. I can also hear some carols being played. Some children get a few gifts and they know who Santa is.

Christianity is taking off in China, but it is still an outlaw religion for the most part. Because of that, celebration has to be rather subdued. They often face a great deal of persecution.
To my Christian brothers and sisters, rejoice that we are allowed to be so open with our faith here, and please remember in your prayers those that are persecuted for their faith.

are you kidding me? of course they do. i'm living in shanghai right now. the supermarket five minutes away has these huge lights flashing merry christmas and the inside is filled with ornaments and trees and tinsel. my compound already put up their christimas tree in the lobby as well as santa window stickers and lights. as far as the cities go, china definitely celebrates christmas.

Christians are minority, they don't celebrate any thing like that officially.
