My dog is in a lot of pain. In about 30 minutes, he's will be getting a check-up @ the vet. What should i do to help comfort him @ the vet and @ home? He's shaking, wimpering, yelping, and refuses to eat and drink. He's cries if you barely tough him. PLEASE DON"T SCREAM AT ME and TELL ME TO TAKE HIM TO THE VET. I am doing that. If you know ways to help reduce pain and or know the problem, please post. I would take him to the vet right now if i could, but they don't open until 10:00 a.m., and he actually happens to be their first animal for today.

I am only 14 and i am not sure what to do. My mom is helping me out with this and she'll be the one driving to him. We live so far out in the city, that the emergency vet is about an hours drive. The nearest vet, is ten minutes.

I have some good/bad news. The good news is that they believe that it is just an upset stomach, probably caused by from getting into the garbage the other night. The bad news is that they are not sure if that is the case, so my parents and i will have to monitor him. Thank you all who have helped me! Thank you for not screaming "TAKE IT TO THE VET RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!" Or something along those lines.

I am starting to become scared. I can guarantee you that cody does not have stomcach problems like the vet said, the vet told us to give my dog some baby liquid meds that help reduce pain. This morning he did not wimper when he walked, now he is. The vet is saying "leave him alone", "no need to take him the the emergency vet". But i know something is wrong. The baby meds that he advised are working right now though. IDK, if i am being paraniod or if this IS SERIOUS!!!!!!! PLEASE HELP!!!

Does your vet not have an emergency service!? Its not a general check up he needs its emergency services! Go as soon as possible to the vet, go to the closest one. Call them and describe the symtoms and I bet they will call you in as an emergency! It dosn't amtter what time it is, the vet will usually take emergencies at any time.
Theres not much you can do, do you know why he's in pain? Has he been poisoned? Has he had any vaccinations recently? He could have vaccinosis, a reaction to the vaccine, it happens sometimes if dogs are vaccinated too much. Look it up, its worth it.
Don't give your dog any medication unless advised by a good vet who has checked him out.
There is no herbal treatment I can think of to relieve pain but I wouldn't try it anyway since you don't know whats wrong.
Right now just sit tight with your dog and comfort him and talk to him, try not to let him see you are worried. Make sure he's warm and comfortable.
Good luck and get well soon to your dog!

I know it's hard to see him like this but the best thing is just let him be. You don't want to mask the pain as the vet may need to feel and see all he can.
I do hope he will be ok. I;m sorry but a good vet would have opened early witha dog in that kind of pain try to call them back

Just leave him alone as much as you can, I know it's heartbreaking but if you give him anything it may mask the problem. The Vet needs to see him as he is. If he's a little dog put him in a crate or carrier, ready to go, talk to him in a normal tone of voice and as much as you can, try not to let him see you are upset. He'll know anyway but it's better for him not to be fussed right now. Get to the Vet's as early as you can, if he's the first Patient they'll see him as soon as the Vet is ready and if he's crying in pain they won't wait till the appointment time!
Please let us know later what happens and try not to worry too much!

It's hard but don't give any meds right now as it may throw off the diagnosis. Go to the vets early, if they are in they may take you ASAP. Good Luck. Post what's up in an edit okay?

Just let him be at home. When you take him to the vet just find a spot for him to laydown until they can see him. Hopefully the vet see's he is in pain and takes him right away to a room and a vet. Ask the vet specifically what you can do at home to help him be moe comfotable.

The best thing you can do right now is force yourself to be calm and make sure you aren't nervous and scared around him. He will pick up on your nerves,,and he doesn't need that. Just make yourself pretend that everything is fine and routine,,,if you calm down, he'll calm down. Good luck at the vets,,and I'll be hoping it isn't serious.

Warm up a blanket in the dryer and then place it on him (the warmth should help some). I'm so sorry - and I'm glad you're taking him to a vet soon. Good luck!!

you must be an emotional wreck your poor dog is in so much pain and your powerless to help him. At this point i guess id say just sit with your dog and comfort him/her let your dog it know and feel it is loved and take as much care as possible in transferring yoru dog to the vets as possible , good luck to both of you
